What is ACTFLEX 75FC used for?

75FC is a single-component moisture-curing polyurethane joint sealant for sealing joints, crack filling, bonding, and waterproofing. Bonds to concrete, fibre cement, timber, metals, and PVC (with primer). Non-sag thixotropic - works on both vertical and horizontal joints.

What movement does it accommodate?

75FC achieves 550% elongation at break with tear resistance ≥6 N/mm. Suitable for expansion joints, perimeter joints, and dynamic structural joints subject to thermal and load cycling.

Load the 600ml sausage into a heavy-duty caulking gun, prime the substrate if needed (with 700 PU Primer or SuperBond 007 on non-porous surfaces), apply foam backer rod into the joint, then gun the bead and tool with a soapy-water tool.

Joint dimensions and coverage?

Joint ratios: ≥12mm width = 2:1 width-to-depth, <12mm = 1:1. Approximately 10-12 linear metres of 10x10mm joint per 600ml sausage. Cures at 3.5mm per 24 hours.

Service temperature -10°C to +65°C once cured. Immersion-ready after 5 days full cure. Skin time 65 minutes at 25°C/50% RH gives ample tooling time.

ACTFLEX 75FC is a single-component, moisture-curing polyurethane joint sealant and construction adhesive for movement joints, junctions, penetrations and bonding. Coverage

Per 600 mL sausage: approx. 16.5 m at 6 x 6 mm, 10 m at 10 x 6 mm, 8.3 m at 12 x 6 mm, 6 m at 10 x 10 mm, 3 m at 20 x 10 mm. Allow about 10% for tooling and wastage. Minimum joint 6 x 6 mm, depth 6 to 15 mm.

Three-sided adhesion (always use backing rod or bond-breaker tape), joints moving more than 12.5%, structural glazing, pools or any continuous chlorinated-water immersion, damp or frosted substrates, or application outside 10 to 26°C. ACTFLEX 75FC is formulated to withstand the rigors of challenging environments, making it suitable for a wide range of applications, from basements and foundations to roofs and decks. Its advanced flexibility allows it to adapt to the natural movements of structures, ensuring long-lasting waterproofing performance.

How to Use

Extrude in a continuous pass from a barrel-type sealant gun with the nozzle deep in the joint, then tool immediately against both joint facesConfirm all joint faces are structurally sound, clean, completely dry and free of oils, grease, paint, laitance, efflorescence, curing compounds and any bond-inhibiting contaminant
Remove protrusions that could puncture the sealant and repair imperfections, voids and blowholes with a high-strength non-shrink mortar, allowed to cure
Confirm all surfaces including screeds are solid and not friable - the joint faces carry the movement stresses
Where detergent-assisted cleaning is used, rinse the detergent off completely with clean water and allow to dry before priming
Size the joint to a minimum 6 mm x 6 mm with 6-15 mm sealant depth; joints wider than 12 mm at a 2:1 width-to-depth ratio
Size movement joints so expected movement does not exceed the 12.5% movement accommodation factor
Prime the joint faces: ACTFLEX 700 PU PRIMER on completely dry internal surfaces, ACTFLEX SUPERBOND 007 on metal, wood and PVC, ACTFLEX EP250 on external or uneven cementitious surfaces
Allow every primer to dry fully per its TDS and never over-apply - pooling at the joint base impairs adhesion
Insert closed-cell polyethylene backing rod approximately 25% larger than the joint width, compressed to the design depth, so the sealant bonds to two sides only; use bond-breaker tape over rigid backing
Trim the nozzle to the bead size required and extrude in a continuous pass with the nozzle deep in the joint so both faces are wetted and no air is entrained
Fill wider joints with multiple passes against the backing rod and both joint faces
Mask both edges for clean lines and strip the tape while the sealant is still pliable
Tool immediately after gunning, pressing the sealant firmly against both joint faces with a curved spatula
Allow the sealant to skin - approximately 65 minutes at 25C, 50% RH - before over-coating with the membrane, a minimum of 24 hours and longer for deep fills
Allow a minimum of 5 days cure before water-immersion service

ACTFLEX 75FC is a fast-curing, single-component moisture-cured polyurethane joint sealant and construction adhesive for movement joints, junctions, penetrations and bonding across the building envelope. It develops a permanently elastic, high-recovery seal with excellent tear resistance, accommodating differential movement between materials with disparate coefficients of expansion, and guns without sag on vertical and horizontal joints. Within Forspec waterproofing systems it is the specified joint sealant for sealed crack and junction details. No Australian Standard prescribes performance classes for single-component polyurethane construction sealants of this type; ACTFLEX 75FC publishes typical Forspec R&D characteristics against the international test methods cited in the Technical Data, and no accredited test report is held.

Apply only between 10-26C ambient and substrate, to completely dry, sound substrates - never to damp, frosted or contaminated surfaces. Never permit three-sided adhesion: always install closed-cell backing rod or bond-breaker tape, because three-sided adhesion causes premature failure and is never permitted. Movement at the joint must not exceed the 12.5% movement accommodation factor. Water-immersion service only after a minimum of 5 days cure at 25C and 50% RH. Cure rate depends on atmospheric humidity and slows significantly in cool or dry air and at depth. Over-paint only after full cure and only after a preliminary compatibility trial - some paint systems remain tacky or crack over elastic sealants. Not for structural glazing, and not for continuous chlorinated-water immersion such as pools. Compatibility with bituminous surfaces, plasticised materials and existing sealants must be confirmed before application.
