Ardex LQ 92 Self Levelling
Self smoothing under tile leveller. Feather edge to 25mm, tile over it after about 4 hours.
ARDEX LQ 92 is a cement based, polymer modified underlay for levelling uneven concrete floors before tiling. Mixed with water it is pourable, free flowing and self smoothing. Walk on it or tile over it after about 4 hours.
Where to use it
- Uneven concrete floors before laying tiles, internal and external
- Floors with under floor heating, mixed with ARDEX Abalastic
- Deep fills over 10mm, bulked out with 2 to 5mm aggregate
- Ramping, mixed with coarse dried sand into a trowelable, non-flowing screed
- Prime with ARDEX Multiprime first. Where AS 3740 calls for a membrane, it goes over the LQ 92 and under the tiles
Why waterproofers buy it
- Self smoothing. Level concrete floors ready for tiling
- Polymer modified. Feather edge up to 25mm
- Walk on it or tile over it after 4 hours
- Cement based, compatible with ARDEX cement based tile adhesives
- Working time approx 10 minutes at 23°C
- Approx 24 MPa compressive strength at 28 days
- 20kg bag, mixed with 4 litres of clean water
- ARDEX 10 year product guarantee
Coverage
20kg bag: 3.8 m² at 3mm.
Not for
Under vinyl coverings, temperatures below 10°C or above 35°C, on-ground slabs not protected against rising damp, external areas subject to freeze thaw, or external use without a waterproofing membrane over it.

Technical overview
Key applications
- Levelling uneven concrete floors before laying tiles
- Internal floor levelling
- External floor levelling, not subject to freeze/thaw
- Floors with under floor heating, mixed with ARDEX Abalastic
- Bulking out thicknesses over 10mm with 2-5mm aggregate
- Ramping, mixed with coarse dried sand to a trowelable non-flowing screed
- High stress locations prone to vibration or extremes of temperature, improved with ARDEX Abalastic
- Levelling beneath an AS3740 waterproofing membrane, with the membrane applied above the LQ 92
Surface suitability
- Concrete (clean, sound and free from paint, wax, curing compounds and oil)
- New concrete (at least 4 weeks old, laitance removed mechanically and vacuumed)
- Concrete primed with ARDEX Multiprime and allowed to touch dry
- Extremely porous concrete (2 coats of primer to prevent bubbles or pinholes)
- On ground concrete slabs (must be protected against rising damp)
- Damp or green concrete (primed with ARDEX WPM300 at 3m2/litre with 0.5mm dry sand broadcast at ~700gms/m2 and cured overnight)
Not recommended for use under vinyl coverings. Do not apply in temperatures below 10C or above 35C, and protect the application from sunlight and wind until the material has set. On ground concrete slabs must be protected against rising damp, and damp or green concrete must first be primed with ARDEX WPM300 with sand broadcast. Subfloors must be dry (AS 1884) and be a minimum of 10C for successful installation. The amount of water used when mixing is critical, the mix must be poured and spread within 10 minutes of mixing at 23C, must not be aerated by overstirring, and the setting surface must not be floated. In external applications a waterproofing membrane must be applied above the ARDEX LQ 92. Classified a Hazardous Chemical, signal word Danger: causes skin irritation and serious eye damage, may cause an allergic skin reaction and respiratory irritation, suspected of causing genetic defects, and may cause damage to organs through prolonged or repeated exposure.

Frequently asked questions
-
What is LQ 92 used with?
CompatibilityLQ 92 is a latex additive used to gauge ARDEX cementitious products in place of water, dramatically improving flexibility, adhesion, and water resistance of mortars, screeds, and levelling compounds.
-
What does adding LQ 92 do?
PerformanceGauging with LQ 92 increases flexural strength, improves adhesion to non-porous substrates, enhances water resistance, and adds flexibility to accommodate substrate movement.
-
How much LQ 92 do I add?
InstallationReplacement ratios vary by product - typically 1:1 to 1:3 LQ 92 to water depending on the application and the ARDEX product being gauged. Refer to the relevant TDS for the exact ratio.
-
Which ARDEX products use LQ 92?
CompatibilityLQ 92 is used with ARDEX cement-based mortars, screeds, smoothing compounds (e.g. A38, A48, K301), and tile adhesives where enhanced flexibility or bond strength is required.
-
Is LQ 92 safe for indoor use?
ComplianceYes. LQ 92 is a water-based latex with low VOC and low odour, suitable for use in occupied buildings and indoor environments.
