One clear epoxy for floor coatings, metallic pours, screeds and casting. Self-priming, zero shrinkage, 30 L kit.

ACTFLEX CRYSTAL BOND is a two-part, crystal-clear epoxy resin for decorative floor work. One resin does the primer coat, the clear or pigmented coating, the terrazzo binder, the screed binder and the casting matrix. Self-priming, so no separate primer to buy.

Where to use it

  • Clear epoxy floor coatings and sealers over decorative concrete
  • Pigmented and metallic epoxy floors, tinted with ACTFLEX Pigment Paste or Metallic Pearl
  • Terrazzo and quartz binder, epoxy screeds and repair mortars
  • Countertops, casting and encapsulation work

Why waterproofers buy it

  • Crystal-clear, high-gloss finish
  • Zero-shrinkage cure. Compressive strength greater than 70 MPa (mortar basis), Shore D 80 to 85
  • 40 to 60 minute pot life for large pours and screeds
  • Primer overcoatable in 8 to 12 hours, light foot traffic at 24 hours, full cure at 7 days
  • Broadcast ACTFLEX ANTISLIP aggregate for a slip-resistant floor
  • 30 L kit, 22.5 L Part A plus 7.5 L Part B, mixed 3 to 1 by volume

Coverage

30 L kit as primer: 120 to 200 m² at 150 to 250 microns DFT.
30 L kit as coating: approximately 30 m² at 1.0 mm DFT.

Not for

Waterproofing (not a membrane), bituminous substrates, flexible membranes, poorly bonded coatings, substrate moisture over 4%, rising damp or negative hydrostatic pressure, below 10°C or above 35°C, pours over 4 mm, screed layers over 15 mm. May amber under prolonged UV.

All times at 25°C and 50% RH. Manufacturer R&D typical values.

Self-priming, the neat first coat seals the substrate with no separate primer product
One resin for clear coatings, metallic pours, epoxy screeds and casting
Zero-shrinkage cure with compressive strength greater than 70 MPa

Technical overview

ACTFLEX CRYSTAL BOND is a two-component, crystal-clear epoxy resin system formulated on a low-viscosity bisphenol-F epoxy resin cured with a polyamide-amine hardener. It is self-priming and works as a clear coating, a pigmented and metallic flooring resin, a terrazzo and quartz binder matrix, an epoxy screed binder and a casting matrix, supplied as a 30 L kit. No Australian Standard currently governs this product class, and FORSPEC states that plainly. The published figures are manufacturer R&D typical values determined on the ASTM methods cited, with accredited testing not yet undertaken. No accredited test certificate is currently held for this product.

Key applications

  • Clear epoxy floor coatings and sealers over decorative concrete
  • Decorative, pigmented and metallic epoxy flooring systems
  • Terrazzo and quartz flooring binder matrix
  • Epoxy screeds and repair mortars
  • Countertops and architectural surfaces
  • Casting, art resin and encapsulation works
  • Anti-slip flooring with ACTFLEX ANTISLIP aggregate broadcast

Surface suitability

  • Concrete (cured minimum 28 days, minimum 25 MPa compressive strength, diamond ground or shot blasted to CSP 2-4)
  • Renders and screeds (cured minimum 7 days, sound, non-friable and mechanically prepared)
  • Cementitious toppings (fully bonded and sound)
  • Cured epoxy (abraded, vacuumed and solvent wiped before overcoating)

Not a waterproofing membrane. Apply only between 10C and 35C with relative humidity below 80%, with the surface a minimum of 3C above the dew point. Substrate moisture content must not exceed 4%, and the product must not be applied where condensation, rising damp or negative hydrostatic pressure is present. Not suitable over bituminous substrates, flexible membranes or poorly bonded coatings. Maximum 4 mm thickness per pour for decorative and metallic systems and maximum 15 mm per layer in screed applications. Dilution is not permitted and kits must not be split. Slight colour variation or ambering may occur under prolonged UV exposure. Do not apply in direct sunlight or under radiant heat. Protect finished work from dust, moisture and vibration for a minimum of 24 hours and do not expose to chemical spill or immersion before full mechanical cure at 7 days. Part B is a Class 8 corrosive liquid, UN 2735, Poisons Schedule S5.
