How to Use

Apply with a high thrust-ratio caulking gun and smoothen the joint with a spatula and finishing solution before skinningCheck the substrate is rigid, clean, free of dust and grease, dry or slightly moist
Remove releasing agents, processing aids and protective agents such as protection foil from plastics prior to bonding or sealing
Prepare non-porous surfaces with a Soudal Surface Activator for critical applications
Prime porous surfaces with Soudal Primer 150
Run a preliminary adhesion and compatibility test on every surface
Set the joint between 5mm and 10mm wide and 5mm and 10mm deep, or a 1mm to 3mm bond line for bonding
Tape the surface around the joint to prevent spilling sealant on the surface of materials
Apply the product with a high thrust-ratio caulking gun
Smoothen the joint with a spatula with the help of finishing solution
Avoid soapy solution coming between the joint edges and sealant, to prevent adhesion loss
Clean tools and uncured product with Soudal Surface Cleaner or Soudal Swipex immediately after use
Allow skin formation of about 10 minutes and cure at about 2 to 3 mm per 24h at 23C and 50% RH
Where a different reactive joint sealant follows, let the first sealant harden completely before applying the next

Technical overview

T-Rex Crystal is a one-component, moisture-curing SMX Hybrid Polymer adhesive and sealant. Due to its high translucency it is used for invisible sealing and bonding, and once cured it forms a strong and elastic waterproof seal. It has excellent adhesion on nearly all surfaces, even if slightly moist, is suitable for sanitary areas, is impervious to mould and is free of isocyanates, solvents, halogens and acids. It holds Australian WaterMark licence WM-023300 under WMTS-014:2016 and is certified suitable for food contact under IANESCO Test Report E18-18236. All published performance figures are Soudal values quoted against ISO test methods; the TDS cites no accredited third-party test report for them.

T-Rex Crystal is not suitable for expansion joints, cannot be used as a glazing sealant, cannot be used on natural stone and is not suitable for bonding aquariums. Do not use in applications where continuous water immersion is possible. Not suitable for PE, PP, PTFE, bituminous substrates, copper or copper-containing materials such as bronze and brass. Bonding plastics like PMMA or polycarbonate in stress loaded applications can give rise to stress cracking and crazing and is not recommended. Application temperature is 5C to 35C. UV resistance is good but the sealant can discolour under extreme conditions or after very long UV exposure, and a total absence of UV can also cause a colour change. Avoid contact with bitumen, tar or other plasticizer releasing materials such as EPDM, neoprene and butyl, which can give rise to discolouration and loss of adhesion. The sanitary formula should not replace regular cleaning of the joint. Run a preliminary adhesion and compatibility test on every surface.
