ACTFLEX FLEXIPLUG is a two-part elastomeric repair mortar for sealing joints, cracks, corner junctions and service penetrations. It is the detailing mortar of the FORSPEC membrane systems, forming the coves and reglets under ACTFLEX 988 CWP and 989 CWP.

How to Use

Place with a trowel, putty knife or caulking gun, compacting firmly against the joint walls and backing rod to eliminate voids, then tool and finish immediately with a trowel lubricated with soapy waterConfirm the substrate is sound, fully cured and free from dust, laitance, loose material, oil, grease, paint, coatings, curing compounds, efflorescence and form-release agents
Prepare by mechanical grinding, abrasive cleaning or high-pressure air to a clean, open profile
Saw, define and square all joints to the required width and depth, cutting irregular, rounded or damaged edges back to solid material
Set the joint geometry: FLEXIPLUG depth equals 50% of the joint width at 15 mm and wider, and equals the joint width below 15 mm
Install closed-cell polyethylene backing rod sized 25% larger than the joint width to control depth and prevent three-sided adhesion
Stop any active flowing water with ACTFLEX HYDROPLUG before FLEXIPLUG is applied
Pre-wet the concrete and maintain a uniform saturated-surface-dry condition, damp with no standing or ponded water
Add Part A resin into a clean container, then slowly add Part B powder while mixing
Mix for 2-3 minutes with a low-speed drill at 400-600 rpm until smooth and lump free, rest the mix for 1 minute, then re-mix briefly before use
Place with a trowel, putty knife or caulking gun, compacting firmly against the joint walls and backing rod to eliminate voids
On wider joints, wet-bond both joint sides first and place the central material last
At corner junctions, cut a minimum 15 mm x 15 mm rebate, or a 35 mm x 35 mm diagonal fillet in high-movement areas, apply a thin bonding layer to both planes and compact fully into the angle
At penetrations, install a backing rod where the annular gap exceeds 20 mm, compact the sealant body at least 20 mm behind the surface line and never leave it proud
For cracks and narrow joints, cut to a rectangular profile, press firmly to full depth compacting in lifts, overfill slightly and tool flush
Tool and finish immediately with a trowel lubricated with soapy water
Allow 2 hours before over-coating with FORSPEC membranes, with the detail set, dense, tooled and clean
Allow 8 hours for pedestrian access, 24 hours for vehicle and wheel traffic and 72 hours before permanent water immersion
Clean tools and equipment immediately with clean water while the material is fresh

Surface suitability

Concrete (sound, fully cured, mechanically prepared to a clean open profile, pre-wetted and held at a uniform saturated-surface-dry condition with no standing water)
Masonry (sound and free from dust, laitance, loose material, oil, grease, paint, coatings, curing compounds, efflorescence and form-release agents)
Ceramics, PVC and metals (excellent adhesion stated, with pull-off commonly failing the substrate rather than the bond)

Never apply below +10C or above +30C, ambient or substrate, or where rapid surface heating from direct sunlight or strong wind may cause flash-drying. No rain, condensation or water exposure within the first 24 hours of curing. Never apply to frozen, frosted or excessively dry porous surfaces; maintain a saturated-surface-dry condition, damp with no standing water. Maximum joint width is 50 mm and minimum joint width is 5 mm. Never dilute or extend with water, cement, sand or aggregates, and never re-temper to extend working time. Joints moving more than 15% require an engineered, FORSPEC-approved detail. Active flowing water must be stopped with ACTFLEX HYDROPLUG before FLEXIPLUG is applied. Incorrect depth-to-width geometry reduces performance. No heavy vibration, impact or traffic loads during the early cure phase, and a minimum of 72 hours cure at 25C and 50% RH before permanent water immersion. Classified a hazardous chemical, signal word Danger: causes skin irritation and serious eye damage, may cause an allergic skin reaction and respiratory irritation, is suspected of causing genetic defects and may cause damage to organs through prolonged or repeated exposure.
