Technical overview

ACTFLEX 75FC is a fast-curing, single-component moisture-cured polyurethane joint sealant and construction adhesive for movement joints, junctions, penetrations and bonding across the building envelope. Its moisture-cure chemistry develops a permanently elastic, high-recovery seal with excellent tear resistance, accommodating differential movement between materials with disparate coefficients of expansion, and it guns without sag on vertical and horizontal joints. Within Forspec waterproofing systems it is the specified joint sealant for sealed crack and junction details. No Australian Standard prescribes performance classes for single-component polyurethane construction sealants of this type; ACTFLEX 75FC publishes typical Forspec R&D characteristics against the international test methods cited in the Technical Data, and no accredited test report is held. Supplied as a carton of 20 x 600 mL sausages.

Key applications

  • Elastic joint sealing of vertical and horizontal movement and control joints in concrete and masonry
  • Sealed crack and junction details within Forspec waterproofing systems, per the relevant membrane TDS
  • Joint sealing beneath and adjoining solvent-based waterproofing applications
  • Sealing penetrations in walls and floors - pipes, services and fixings
  • Bonding metal angles to concrete, fibre cement sheeting, timber and PVC with the specified primer
  • Industrial and transport assembly - vehicle bodies, panels and underbody components
  • Waterproofing exterior lap seams on truck trailers, metal roofs and window perimeters

Surface suitability

  • Concrete (sound, clean and completely dry joint faces)
  • Masonry (sound, clean and completely dry joint faces)
  • Fibre cement sheeting
  • Metal (primed with ACTFLEX SUPERBOND 007)
  • Timber (primed with ACTFLEX SUPERBOND 007)
  • PVC (primed with ACTFLEX SUPERBOND 007)
  • Completely dry internal cementitious surfaces (primed with ACTFLEX 700 PU PRIMER)
  • External or uneven cementitious surfaces (primed with ACTFLEX EP250)

Apply only between 10-26C ambient and substrate, to completely dry, sound substrates - never to damp, frosted or contaminated surfaces. Never permit three-sided adhesion: always install closed-cell backing rod or bond-breaker tape, because three-sided adhesion causes premature failure and is never permitted. Movement at the joint must not exceed the 12.5% movement accommodation factor. Water-immersion service only after a minimum of 5 days cure at 25C and 50% RH. Cure rate depends on atmospheric humidity and slows significantly in cool or dry air and at depth. Over-paint only after full cure and only after a preliminary compatibility trial, because some paint systems remain tacky or crack over elastic sealants. Not for structural glazing, and not for continuous chlorinated-water immersion such as pools. Not resistant to alcohols, organic acids, concentrated acids or alkalis, chlorinated hydrocarbons or fuels - confirm chemical exposure before use. Do not apply to silicone or bituminous substrates. Allow epoxy coatings to cure fully first, because uncured epoxy components may inhibit polyurethane cure. Do not use water, detergent, mineral turpentine or solvent-based solutions as tooling aids. Not for structural, safety-critical or overhead load-bearing bonding. Compatibility with bituminous surfaces, plasticised materials and existing sealants must be confirmed before application. Use an opened sausage on the day it is opened.

Frequently asked questions

View all FAQs
  • What is the ACTFLEX 75FC Grey sealant?
    Compatibility

ACTFLEX 75FC Grey is a high-performance polyurethane joint sealant supplied in 600ml sausages, used for sealing expansion joints, construction joints, and movement joints in concrete, masonry, and metal substrates. Grey is the standard structural colour.

  • What movement does 75FC accommodate?
    Performance

75FC is a high-movement polyurethane sealant suitable for joints with significant cyclic movement - typical movement class plus or minus 25%. Ideal for slab expansion joints, concrete tilt panel joints, and curtain wall perimeter joints.

  • How is it applied?
    Installation

Cut the sausage end, load into a 600ml sausage gun (Forspec Heavy Duty Aluminium Gun), prime the substrate if specified, apply foam backer rod into the joint, then tool the bead with a smooth tool dipped in soapy water for a clean finish.

  • Is 75FC paintable?
    Compatibility

Yes. ACTFLEX 75FC accepts paint once fully cured (typically 7-14 days for full cure depending on bead size and temperature). Test paint compatibility on a sample joint first.

  • Where is it commonly specified?
    Compliance

75FC is specified for AS4654-compliant external waterproofing systems, AS3740 wet area perimeter joints (in conjunction with the appropriate membrane), and general construction expansion joint sealing.
