Starlike EVO is a two-part epoxy grout that also works as an adhesive, so it can bed and grout ceramic, porcelain, glass and mosaic tiles. Tilers reach for it in showers, bathrooms, laundries, splashbacks, pools and commercial kitchens where the joint has to resist water, staining and regular cleaning chemicals. Because it is epoxy rather than cement, the cured joint is dense and does not need sealing the way a cement grout does.

Epoxy grout is denser and far more resistant to water, staining and acidic cleaners than cement grout, and it holds its colour better in wet areas. The trade-off is cost and working time, since it is a two-part product that has to be mixed and then cleaned off the tile face while it is still workable. For showers, pools and commercial wet areas most tilers accept that trade-off, while cement grout still has its place on dry, low-traffic work.

The main downsides are price, a shorter working window once the two parts are combined, and the need to clean the tile face properly before the grout hardens. It also demands the right gear, because a soft float and a household sponge will smear residue and leave haze. That is why we stock the Genesis float and scouring gear alongside the grout rather than selling the grout on its own.

Both parts are mixed together thoroughly, worked into the joints with a hard rubber float, then the excess is cut back and the tile face emulsified and washed off before the material sets. Work in manageable sections rather than grouting a whole room in one hit, because mixed epoxy will not wait for you. The Genesis Dual Edge Grout Float is hard rubber, which is what you want for packing epoxy into the joint and cutting the excess back cleanly. The Genesis Scouring Pads and Genesis Scouring Handle cover the emulsifying and washing-off stage, where a plain sponge tends to move residue around instead of lifting it. Turning up without the right float and pads is the most common reason a first epoxy job ends up patchy or hazy.

Not as a skim coat over the top. The old grout needs to be raked or ground out to leave a clean joint of consistent depth, with the tile edges sound, dry and free of dust. Epoxy will not bond reliably to loose, contaminated or previously sealed cement grout, so the preparation is effectively the job.
