Technical overview

ACTFLEX 929 HV is a Class III, non-sagging, moisture-cured polyurethane waterproofing membrane for internal and external under-tile and non-exposed applications where toughness, chemical resistance and root resistance govern selection. It is independently certified Class III under both AS/NZS 4858:2004 (XTecGen Report 0242-5) and AS 4654.1-2012 (XTecGen Report 0242-7), with 547% certified control elongation and cyclic movement, water, bleach and detergent immersion and heat-ageing passes. Testing was carried out by XTec Gen Pty Ltd, accredited for compliance with ISO/IEC 17025, on a two-coat 0.7 mm build to a 1.2 mm dry film. It complies as a Class III membrane within a compliant system to AS 3740:2021, and is limited to non-exposed applications within an approved system under AS 4654.2.

Key applications

  • Internal and external wet areas beneath protected finishes, per AS 3740
  • Roof terraces and roofs, non-exposed, beneath approved coverings, per AS 4654.2
  • Planter boxes and above-ground pits with non-aggressive root systems only
  • Retaining walls and below-grade protected surfaces exposed to corrosive soils
  • Bridges, walkways, substations and parking decks beneath protection
  • Prepared concrete and metal surfaces
  • General waterproofing maintenance and repairs

Surface suitability

  • Concrete (cured a minimum of 28 days, wood-trowel finish)
  • Renders and screeds (cured a minimum of 7 days, wood-trowel finish)
  • Wet-area-grade fibre cement wall sheeting (minimum 6 mm)
  • Compressed fibre cement (minimum 15 mm)
  • Brickwork, blockwork and masonry
  • Metal surfaces (primed)

Not suitable for exposure to sunlight or UV - the membrane must be protected or covered immediately after full cure, and pedestal systems that leave it fully exposed require an ACTFLEX ATC or ACTFLEX ULTRA TC topcoat before pedestal installation. Direct adhesion of tiling to the cured membrane is not recommended - tiling is always to the screed per AS 3958.1, over a 200 micron polyethylene slip sheet. Allow full cure, a minimum of 48 hours at 25C and 50% RH, before tiling, backfilling, topping or immersion. Maintenance foot traffic only in uncovered internal areas such as plant rooms - not designed for daily traffic, piercing footwear or machinery. Root resistance is limited to non-aggressive root systems such as small garden trees, hedges and shrubs, not aggressive or invasive species. Not compatible with all silicone-based and bituminous surfaces and products. Not for constantly submerged applications such as pools and ponds, or chlorine environments. Not a vapour barrier and not designed to withstand negative-side hydrostatic pressure. Apply only to dry substrates, only between 10-26C, and never below 10C surface temperature. Do not dilute. Spray application is not approved.

Frequently asked questions

View all FAQs
  • What substrates does ACTFLEX 929 HV bond to?
    Compatibility

929 HV bonds to concrete, render, fibre-cement sheet, masonry, and primed metal. Use ACTFLEX 600 Primer for porous substrates or 500 NP for non-porous; always confirm the primer pairing on the project's substrate.

  • What thickness should I apply?
    Performance

Apply at 1.0mm DFT on walls, 1.2mm DFT on floors, and 1.5mm DFT in planter boxes - typically two coats at 90 degrees. Coverage is approximately 8-10 m² per 20kg pail at 1.2mm DFT.

  • How long until I can tile over it?
    Installation

929 HV is tack-free in 6 hours at 25°C and reaches full cure in 48 hours. Wait for full cure before tiling. Service temperature range is -10°C to +60°C once cured.

  • Is 929 HV Australian standards certified?
    Compliance

Yes. 929 HV is certified to AS3740:2021 (internal wet areas) and AS4654.2:2012 (external above-ground waterproofing) - Class III, the dual-standard premium PU membrane in the Forspec range.

  • What is the elongation and is it root-resistant?
    Performance

929 HV delivers greater than 600% elongation at break and the cured film is root-resistant - making it suitable for planter boxes, green roofs, and applications subject to thermal cycling.
