Bed the tape into a wet base coat of the specified FORSPEC membrane with a steel trowel or spatula, then apply a second coat over the full tape length, lapping ends 50 mm.Confirm substrates are clean, dry, structurally sound and free of laitance, dust, oil, grease, paint, sealers, curing compounds and all other bond-inhibiting contaminants
Remove surface ridges, sharp projections, fins and voids from concrete so nothing bridges the tape
Confirm renders and screeds are fully cured, crack-free and solidly bonded; cut out and reinstate any weak, hollow or drummy area
Reinstate defects, voids and blowholes with a FORSPEC concrete repair system such as FORBUILD 100 or FORCRETE 100, finished flush and cured
Make junction zones smooth and continuous for a minimum of 200 mm in every direction from the corner, including the wall upturn
Remove all loose fasteners, screws, nails and debris from wall and floor sheet surfaces
Mechanically prepare dense, burnished or coated surfaces by grinding or light abrasion, then vacuum the area thoroughly
Confirm surface preparation is complete and that any required primer has been applied and is fully dry
Pre-fill cracks and static joints wider than 3 mm with ACTFLEX 75FC or ACTFLEX MS PRO and allow to cure
Apply a generous, continuous base coat of the specified FORSPEC membrane along the full length of the joint, wide enough to receive the full tape width plus margin on both sides
While the membrane is still wet, centre the tape over the junction or crack so the elastomeric centre spans the joint and the felt backing lies flat on both planes
Press the tape into the wet membrane with a steel trowel or spatula, working from the centre outwards to expel air, wrinkles and dry zones
Allow the base coat to partially set, then apply the second coat of membrane over the entire tape length, fully embedding and encapsulating the tape
Overlap tape ends by a minimum of 50 mm, fully embedded in membrane at the lap
Cut the tape at 45 degrees at internal corners and lap or mitre neatly, keeping the centre of the tape continuous around the corner
Join factory-preformed corner units to the running tape with a minimum 50 mm overlap and full embedment
Inspect the installed detail for hollow zones, wrinkles, dry mesh or felt and lifted edges, and cut out and re-detail any defective length
