ACTFLEX FLEX TAPE is a thermoplastic elastomer tape with a fully bonded felt backing. The stretchy TPE core bridges cracks and takes movement at wall-to-floor junctions.

Specs

Grey, 0.60 mm thick, 120 mm wide with a 70 mm TPE centre. Lap ends 50 mm minimum. Bed into wet membrane, then coat over.

Use on its own, dry laying, cracks over 3 mm without pre-filling with ACTFLEX 75FC or MS PRO, or thick-bodied membranes (use ACTFLEX MESH TAPE).

Technical overview

ACTFLEX FLEX TAPE is a thermoplastic elastomer waterproofing tape reinforced with a fully bonded non-woven felt backing, engineered for flexible and brush-grade waterproofing membranes. The elastic TPE core bridges active cracks and accommodates long-term structural and thermal movement at wall-to-floor junctions and dynamic joints, while the felt backing wets out into the membrane and locks the tape into the system. It is a detailing component and is not itself certified to a membrane standard. AS/NZS 4858 is not applicable because the tape is a system component and not a membrane, so compliance is established by the certified FORSPEC membrane system in which the tape is embedded. No accredited certificate is currently held on file for the tape properties, which are published as typical Forspec R&D characteristic values.

Surface suitability

  • Concrete (smooth and free of surface ridges, sharp projections, fins and voids)
  • Render (fully cured, crack-free and solidly bonded)
  • Screed (fully cured, crack-free and solidly bonded)
  • Junction zones (smooth and continuous for a minimum of 200 mm in every direction from the corner)
  • Building boards and sheet substrates (installed and fastened per the sheet manufacturer instructions and the applicable Australian Standard)

Not a stand-alone waterproofing product. The tape performs only as a reinforced detail within a complete FORSPEC waterproofing system and must not be left exposed. Never embed dry: the membrane must fully wet out the tape from beneath and be applied over it, or the tape will float, bridge and debond. Cracks and static joints wider than 3 mm must be pre-filled with ACTFLEX 75FC or ACTFLEX MS PRO before the tape is installed. Not a substitute for a designed movement joint - dynamic structural joints require the joint detail nominated in the project design. Do not install over frosted, damp or contaminated substrates, or where condensation is present. Do not stretch the tape during installation, as an installed tape under tension will pull out of the junction as the membrane cures. Engineered for flexible and brush-grade membranes - for thick-bodied and coarse-consistency membranes specify ACTFLEX MESH TAPE instead. Confirm compatibility between the tape and the specified membrane with a FORSPEC technical representative before use.

    Compatibility

    FLEXTAPE is a TPE-cored reinforcement tape with white felt flanks for sealing joints, cracks, and floor-to-wall junctions in wet areas, balconies, rooftops, and concrete transitions. The felt face embeds into liquid membranes for permanent reinforcement.

  • How is it installed?
    Installation

    Embed in the wet first coat of liquid membrane along the joint or junction. The TPE core provides the waterproofing barrier; the felt flanks ensure full bond with the membrane. No float or delamination concerns.

  • What's the difference from MESHTAPE?
    Compatibility

    MESHTAPE is an open-mesh tape that the membrane wets through completely. FLEXTAPE has a solid TPE core that itself acts as a waterproof barrier - higher confidence on critical joints. Choose FLEXTAPE for premium detailing.
