Pre-filled structural epoxy mortar. 80 MPa at 7 days, non-slump for vertical and overhead work, no sand to add.

ACTFLEX HBR is a two-part, high-build epoxy repair mortar for structural concrete repair, patching, rebuilding and anchoring. It comes pre-filled, so there is no measuring sand on site. It mixes to a non-slump mortar that trowels onto floors, walls and soffits, and goes onto damp concrete.

Where to use it

  • Spalled or eroded concrete in industrial, commercial and infrastructure work
  • Concrete bays, plinths, kerbs, edge nosings, stairs, steps and loading dock edges
  • Bonding precast, concrete, masonry and stone. Anchoring bolts and fixings (safety-critical anchors need written FORSPEC confirmation)

Why waterproofers buy it

  • 80 MPa compressive, 35 MPa tensile and 73 MPa flexural at 7 days
  • Bond fails in the parent concrete, not the bond line
  • Non-slump. 20 to 25 mm per pass on vertical and overhead surfaces without formwork
  • Moisture tolerant. Goes on damp substrates, no standing water
  • Pot life 40 minutes, touch dry 10 to 12 hours, full cure 7 days
  • 30 kg kit, Part A 20 kg plus Part B 10 kg, mixed 2 to 1. 10 year Forspec product warranty

Coverage

1.5 kg/m² per 1.0 mm of depth. 30 kg kit: approximately 6.67 m² at 3 mm, 2.00 m² at 10 mm, 0.80 m² at 25 mm.

Not for

Waterproofing (not a membrane), below 15°C or above 35°C, over 80% RH, standing water, concrete under 28 days or 25 MPa, or more than 25 mm in one pass.

All times at 25°C and 50% RH.

Compressive strength of 80 MPa at 7 days, stronger than the concrete around it
Non-slump, so it places on vertical and overhead surfaces without formwork
Pre-filled and pre-proportioned - no site measuring of sand or fillers

Technical overview

ACTFLEX HBR is a two-component, pre-proportioned, high-build structural epoxy bonding and repair mortar for structural concrete repair, patching, rebuilding and anchoring where high compressive strength and high bond strength are required. It is supplied pre-filled with no site addition of sand or fillers and mixes to a non-slump, trowelable mortar that places on horizontal, vertical and overhead surfaces, internally and externally, curing to a dense, zero-shrinkage repair. No Australian Standard currently governs this product class, and the values in Technical Data are manufacturer R&D typical values, with accredited testing not yet undertaken.

Key applications

  • Repair of spalled or eroded concrete in industrial, commercial and infrastructure assets
  • Structural repair of concrete bays, plinths, kerbs and edge nosings
  • Rebuilding stairs, steps and loading dock edges
  • Epoxy patching of floor voids and damaged slabs prior to coating
  • Bonding agent for precast elements, concrete, masonry and stone
  • Repair of chemical plant floors, mechanical rooms and workshop bays
  • Anchoring of bolts and fixings, with project-specific design and written FORSPEC confirmation for safety-critical anchoring

Surface suitability

  • Concrete (cured minimum 28 days, minimum compressive strength 25 MPa, mechanically prepared, sound and clean)
  • Masonry (sound, clean and free of friable material, dust, laitance, grease, oil and curing agents)
  • Stone (sound, clean and free of friable material, dust, laitance, grease, oil and curing agents)
  • Metal (sound, clean and abraded, free of rust scale, oil and grease)
  • Damp substrates are accepted, but there must be no standing water or surface water film

Apply only between 15C and 35C, with relative humidity below 80%. Substrates may be damp, but do not apply over standing water or a surface water film, and protect the repair from standing water until fully cured. Concrete must be cured a minimum of 28 days with a compressive strength of at least 25 MPa. Maximum 20-25 mm thickness per pass on vertical and overhead surfaces, building greater depths in successive passes. ACTFLEX HBR is not a waterproofing membrane. Safety-critical anchoring requires project-specific design and written FORSPEC confirmation. Do not re-temper the mix or add solvents, fillers or sand, and do not dilute unless approved in writing by an authorised FORSPEC representative. Mix full kits only; do not split kits or alter the mix ratio. Always complete a test area before full application. Both components are skin sensitisers classified DANGER: wear chemical splash goggles or safety glasses with side shields to AS/NZS 1337.1, chemical-resistant gloves, overalls, a PVC apron and safety footwear, and use a Type A-P filter respirator for Part A and a Type AK-P filter respirator for Part B where ventilation is insufficient.
