Check it suits your setup
Two minutes here saves a return. This kit recesses puddle flanges into concrete slabs on a 9-inch grinder - confirm your grinder and substrate before you buy.
Stop recessing puddle flanges the slow way
One setup. One pass. Done.
Mark the centre, mount up and connect the vac - then cut the full 200mm recess in a single dust-controlled pass.

Mark the drain centre, fit the kit to a 230mm / 9-inch grinder, connect the dust shroud to your extractor and set the depth to match the flange.

With extraction running, plunge and cut the rebate. The disc recesses the full 200mm diameter in one pass in under 3 minutes, guided by the wheel bearing sitting in the pipe.

Drop the flange in and check it sits flush, vacuum out the recess, then bond, seal and dress the membrane down over the flange.
How fast does it pay for itself?
Drag the sliders to match your work. Enter the recesses you cut and how much faster this kit is than the old jackhammer-and-grinder method.
Estimates only, based on your inputs. Actual time and savings vary by site, operator and conditions.
Concrete kit vs the old method
Built for cleaner concrete grinding
Grinding a rebate into concrete abrades a silica-bearing material and releases respirable crystalline silica. The 280mm shroud does not make dust disappear - it captures dust at the source, and only when a suitable extractor is connected and switched on. Run it dry with on-tool extraction, never wet with a mains grinder.

Technical specifications
What's included

Premium diamond segments grind the full 200mm recess to depth.

Sits inside the 100mm drainage pipe and acts as the central guide as you cut.

Encloses the disc and connects to your extractor for dust-controlled cutting.
Replace the disc, not the whole kit
When the disc reaches the end of its life (around 7 to 15 recesses on concrete, depending on hardness and aggregate), swap the 200mm diamond disc and keep using your dust shroud and wheel-bearing guide.

Built for concrete wet-area prep

Recess the flange flush into the concrete before membrane and screed.

External wet areas where the floor falls to the waste.

Cut a clean 200mm recess for any flange under 200mm with one tool and one pass.

Replace a flange in a cured slab without hiring or hauling a jackhammer.

Or any standard PVC puddle flange, flush and ready for the membrane.
Fast, repeatable recesses with disc life to plan consumables against.

Frequently asked questions
-
What grinder do I need, and is the 9-inch included?
The kit runs on a standard 230mm (9-inch) angle grinder. Buy it two ways: the kit alone if you already own a 9-inch grinder, or the bundle with a Makita 9-inch grinder. If you go kit-only, make sure your grinder is a 230mm / 9-inch machine, not a 100mm or 125mm.
-
Will it fit my puddle flange, and does it suit the Puddle Pro 100mm flange?
Yes. It is built to recess standard PVC puddle flanges under 200mm, including the Puddle Pro 100mm flange. It cuts a single full 200mm recess that suits the common flanges most waterproofers and plumbers set daily. If you run an unusual flange, check its outside diameter is under 200mm first.
-
What diameter and how deep is the recess?
The kit cuts a single full 200mm recess so the flange drops in flush, ready for the membrane and screed. Depth is set to bring the flange level with the surface - call us to confirm the exact depth for your flange.
-
How many recesses do I get per disc, and can I buy replacements?
Expect roughly 7 to 15 recessed holes per disc. The range depends on concrete hardness, aggregate and your technique, so softer slabs sit at the top end and old high-strength concrete at the lower end. Replacement discs are available, so you only swap the consumable, not the whole kit.
-
Is this wet or dry cutting?
It is a dry, dust-controlled process using premium diamond segments, designed to run with dust extraction rather than water, so there is no slurry to deal with. Because it is a corded mains grinder, water is not used - dry on-tool extraction plus a P2 respirator is the correct control path.
-
What vacuum or dust extractor should I pair with it?
Run it with an industrial dust extractor. For silica dust on concrete, an M-class or better (H-class preferred) extractor classified to AS/NZS 60335.2.69 is the compliant choice. A domestic or shop vacuum, even a HEPA one, must not be used.
-
Can I recess an old or existing slab, or only fresh pours?
It is made for grinding a recess into concrete floors, including cured and existing slabs - that is the whole point of using diamond segments rather than forming a recess in a fresh pour. Harder or older concrete uses more disc life and sits at the lower end of the holes-per-disc range.
-
Does it really only take about 3 minutes?
Yes - a recess is done in under 3 minutes with this kit, versus jackhammering and swapping multiple discs the old way. Real-world time varies a little with concrete hardness and operator experience, but sub-3-minutes is the benchmark.
-
How does the wheel-bearing guide keep the cut centred?
A 100mm wheel bearing sits inside the 100mm drainage pipe and acts as the central guide, so the 200mm recess stays concentric with the drain in one pass - no freehand and no swapping tooling mid-job.
-
What warranty and support come with the kit?
It is supplied for professional waterproofing and plumbing use and is backed by The Waterproofing Shop for advice and support. Give the team a call before you order if you want to check it against your flanges or grinder.
