Step by stepWhich kit do you need?
The difference between the dual and regular FC sheeting kit.
Complete the setup
Top up on the discs, PPE and extras that finish the job. Tick what you need and add them in one go.
What's included

Segmented diamond tip that grinds the recess to a consistent depth.

Pre-attached to the disc centre - rides on your installed 100mm pipe to hold centre.

Connects to your vacuum to help capture dust at the source.
Supplied with the kit so the disc, shroud and grinder are matched out of the box.
Stop cutting recesses around an installed pipe by hand
Cutting a recess around a pipe that is already in the floor is the hardest version of this job. This kit runs off the pipe itself, so the recess comes out round and flat without a pilot hole.
Why it was invented
Cutting a recess into a slab freehand means an angle grinder, a chalk line and a cloud of silica dust. Depth is uneven around the circle and the finish depends entirely on who is holding the tool.
Where hand cutting goes wrong
A recess cut too shallow leaves the flange proud and the screed has to ramp over it. Cut too deep and you are into reinforcement. An oval recess leaves gaps the membrane has to span.
Why professionals use it
The depth is set before the tool touches the slab, so every recess comes out the same. Dust goes into the vacuum instead of the air, and the flange drops straight in.

How fast does it pay for itself?
Drag the sliders to match your work. Most tradies make the kit back within the first couple of weeks.

Where this tool gets used
Built for the wet areas and service spaces that have to stay dry.
-
Bathrooms
Showers, hobs and floor wastes in domestic and commercial bathrooms.
-
Balconies
Exposed decks and door thresholds where water has to drain away cleanly.
-
Plant rooms
Wet plant and pump rooms where a floor waste has to sit flush.
-
Lift pits
Pits that need a tanked floor and a drain that does not sit proud.
-
Basements
Below ground slabs where drainage and membrane detail have to line up.
-
Commercial kitchens
High traffic wet floors with multiple wastes and heavy cleaning.
-
Hospitals
Wards, theatres and wet rooms built to a tight finished floor level.
-
Apartments
Repeat bathroom layouts where every unit has to come out the same.

Check it suits your setup
Two minutes here saves a return. This kit is purpose-built for FC sheeting and 230mm puddle flanges - confirm your grinder and substrate before you buy.
Technical specifications
Replace the disc, not the whole kit
Once the disc reaches the end of its life (around 100 recesses), just swap the diamond disc and keep using your wheel bearing and dust shroud.

Built for repeated wet-area prep

Recess the flange cleanly before membrane and tiling.

Centre on the installed 100mm pipe, cut and seat the flange in one setup.

Fast, consistent recesses on internal FC sheet floors.

Purpose-built for compressed fibre cement flooring.

Where the time saved per recess really adds up.

Standardise recess depth across the whole crew.
Frequently asked questions
-
Will this work with my grinder?
Yes - it fits any standard 230mm (9-inch) angle grinder with an M14 thread, which covers Makita, DeWalt, Metabo, Bosch, Milwaukee and most major brands. If you don't own a 9-inch grinder, choose the With Grinder option.
-
Does it work on concrete or just FC sheeting?
This kit is purpose-built for FC sheeting (compressed fibre cement) and won't perform on concrete. For concrete, use the dedicated concrete recess kit - call us and we'll point you to the right tool.
-
What size puddle flange is it for?
It's designed for standard PVC puddle flanges that seat in a 230mm recess over a 100mm pipe - the standard used in most Australian wet-area construction.
-
Is the grinder included?
Only if you choose the With Grinder bundle, which includes a 9-inch grinder. The standard Kit Only option does not include a grinder.
-
Do I need a pilot hole, or does the pipe need to be in first?
No pilot hole needed. This kit is made for FC sheeting where the 100mm pipe is already installed - the integrated wheel bearing drops onto that pipe and centres the tool for you, then cuts the 150mm clearance hole and grinds the 230mm recess in one pass.
-
How many recesses will one disc do?
Approximately 100 recesses per disc under normal use on FC sheeting - roughly $4.59 per recess. Replacement discs are available separately.
-
Can I buy replacement discs?
Yes. Replacement discs are available separately, so you only replace the disc - not the whole kit, wheel bearing or dust shroud.
-
Is it dust-free?
It's dust-controlled, not dust-free. The custom 280mm shroud and 290mm dust ring connect to a suitable vacuum to help capture FC dust at the source. PPE is still required and silica dust controls still apply - always follow your site's WHS requirements.
-
Can I use it on Scyon board or particleboard?
It's engineered and calibrated for compressed fibre cement (FC) sheeting. The depth guide and cutting dimensions are set for FC sheeting puddle-flange installs, so for best results stick to FC sheeting.
-
How quickly does it pay for itself?
For most tradies doing regular FC sheet wet-area prep, the kit pays for itself within the first couple of weeks. At around 10 recesses a week you save roughly 20-25 minutes of labour per recess versus the old method - use the calculator on this page to plug in your own rate and volume.

The standards behind wet area work
AS 3740 and the NCC set out how wet areas are prepared and waterproofed in Australia. Here is what they ask for in plain English, as background for planning the job.
The Australian Standard that sets out which surfaces in a bathroom, ensuite or laundry are waterproofed, how far the membrane carries up walls and how falls and drainage are handled.
The Code sets the performance requirements wet area construction has to meet, and calls up AS 3740 as a way of showing those requirements are satisfied.
