The Waterproofing Shop range is our own in-house line up of the tools, consumables and accessories that sit around a waterproofing system rather than the membranes themselves. It covers application tools and trowels, sprayers, moisture and film gauges, safety gear, cleaning solvents, reinforcement tape, Puddle Pro leak control flanges and crack injection consumables. It also includes the hands-on installer courses run through our training centre, so trade buyers can kit out a crew and get them trained from the one place.

The Waterproofing Shop FAQs

Common questions about the The Waterproofing Shop range.

Still have questions?

Talk to our team for advice on the right The Waterproofing Shop product for your job.

What is included in The Waterproofing Shop range?

This is our own range of the site hardware and consumables that support a waterproofing system, rather than the membranes and coatings themselves. It takes in application tools such as pointing and gauging trowels, hand and shoulder sprayers, a moisture meter and a wet film thickness gauge, plus safety goggles, respirators, nitrile gloves, isopropyl alcohol, render cloth tape and Puddle Pro leak control flanges. Crack injection consumables like the SWM Crack Injection Hose and injection packers sit in the same range, along with the courses run through our training centre.

What does a puddle flange actually do?

A puddle flange, also called a leak control flange, is the connection between your waterproofing membrane and the floor waste. It is set into the substrate so the membrane can be dressed down into the flange, which lets any water that tracks through the tiles, grout or screed drain into the pipe instead of sitting on the slab. Without one, that subsurface water has nowhere to go and usually turns up later as a stain or leak in the room below.

Do you waterproof over a puddle flange or into it?

You dress the membrane into the flange, not across the top of it, so the membrane and the flange form one continuous barrier that terminates inside the drain. The flange has to sit flush with the substrate first, which normally means rebating the floor rather than leaving a raised lip that the membrane has to climb. Check the technical data sheet for the membrane you are using, because priming and detailing at the flange differ between liquid applied and self adhesive sheet systems.

Are leak control flanges expected on Australian jobs?

Australian wet area work is governed by standards such as AS 3740 for internal wet areas and AS 4654 for external above ground areas, together with the plumbing code, and these deal with how a membrane is terminated at a floor waste. In practice builders, certifiers and plumbing inspectors expect a leak control flange at every waste in a wet area, and most warranty and defect claims come back to that detail. Confirm the current standard and any local requirements for your specific job, as commercial and residential expectations are not always the same.

Which tools do I need for a bathroom waterproofing job?

Most bathroom jobs need something to check the substrate, something to apply with, and something to detail corners and penetrations. From this range that usually means a moisture meter to confirm the slab is ready, a pointing or gauging trowel for patching and bedding, a hand or shoulder sprayer for primers, render cloth tape for reinforcing, and a wet film thickness gauge so you can see you are building the coating evenly as you go. Add gloves, goggles and a respirator when you are working with solvent based products in a small unventilated space.

Do you run installer training as well as supply products?

Yes. Our training centre runs hands-on courses including PREFLEX 3000 Installer Training, ACTFLEX 5000 Installer Training for self adhesive sheet waterproofing, FORSPEC Injection Systems for crack repair and leak sealing, an Epoxy Grout Application Certification Course and a Premium Designer Epoxy and Flake Flooring Course. There is also All Things Waterproofing, a compliance focused session covering correct detailing against current construction codes. Courses are listed and booked the same way as any other item in this range.

Where can I buy The Waterproofing Shop range?

Everything in this range is sold directly by us, so the tools, PPE, Puddle Pro flanges, injection hose and packers, solvents and tapes are all ordered from this collection page and shipped Australia wide. The flanges are stocked in trade box quantities for builders, plumbers and waterproofers doing repeat work, so you are not buying them one job at a time. The training courses in this range are booked through the same checkout, and our team can talk through which course suits your crew before you commit.
