ACTFLEX SA TAPE is a self-adhesive butyl sealing tape with a white polypropylene fleece face for FORSPEC liquid membranes. The butyl self-seals around fasteners and penetrations. The fleece gives the membrane a key.

How to Use

Peel the liner, apply to the prepared substrate without creases or stretching, embed with a pressure roller and lap ends and junctions a minimum 50 mmConfirm substrates are clean, dry, structurally sound and free of laitance, dust, oil, grease, paint, sealers, curing compounds and all other bond-inhibiting contaminants
Confirm concrete surfaces are smooth and free of surface ridges, sharp projections, fins and voids, any of which will bridge the tape and create a void beneath it
Confirm junction zones are smooth and continuous for a minimum of 200 mm in every direction from the corner, including the wall upturn
Confirm renders and screeds are fully cured, crack-free and solidly bonded; cut out and reinstate any weak, hollow or drummy area
Reinstate defects, voids and blowholes with a FORSPEC concrete repair system such as FORBUILD 100 or FORCRETE 100, finished flush and cured
Remove all loose fasteners, screws, nails and debris from wall and floor sheet surfaces
Mechanically prepare dense, burnished or coated surfaces by grinding or light abrasion, then vacuum the area thoroughly
Prime AAC blocks and porous concrete with the FORSPEC primer specified for the substrate and the membrane system, and allow it to dry fully
Confirm surface preparation is complete and that any required primer has been applied and is fully dry
Peel the release liner from the ACTFLEX SA TAPE
Apply the tape directly to the prepared substrate, aligned with the joint or junction, without creases or trapped air and without stretching it
Embed the tape with a pressure roller to achieve complete, uniform contact and expel all air bubbles and wrinkles
Overlap ends and junctions by a minimum of 50 mm, applying light heat to the butyl face before overlapping for additional security
Internal corners: cut the tape at 45 degrees and lap or mitre neatly, keeping the centre of the tape continuous around the corner
External corners: pre-form or cut the tape to the corner shape with continuous overlap, contacting the substrate on both planes
Floor wastes: make a star cut over the flange, press the tape around the flange edge with a roller, then extend the membrane over the fleece
Pipe penetrations: cut the tape to shape, wrap it around the pipe with a vertical overlap, seal the butyl around the pipe and reinforce with the compatible liquid membrane
Terminate the tape 10-20 mm below the tile or finish level in all cases
In cold conditions, pre-warm the tape and the substrate with a heat gun on a low setting to develop adhesion
Immediately cover the installed fleece face with the approved membrane system - do not leave the tape exposed
