How to Use

Mix to a pancake batter consistency and pour into the wetted hole from one side, working the bolt up and down to release air bubblesAnchoring: drill the hole in sound concrete, large enough for the head and washer, at 3 x the bolt size and 5 x the bolt or post diameter deep
Drill deeper where the concrete is not sufficiently sound
Mushroom the base of the hole by tilting the drill to increase the strength
Blow or vacuum out excess dust and wet the sides of the hole to obtain proper bonding
Place the anchor bolt with washer into the hole
Mix enough material to fill the hole, at a water to MAXGRIP ratio of about 1/6, roughly 3.75 to 4.25 litres per 25kg
Mix in a small plastic bowl or other suitable container to a pancake batter consistency
Pour a little MAXGRIP into the hole and work the bolt up and down a few times to eliminate air bubbles
Pour in the balance of the mix from one side to ensure even flow
Allow 15 minutes to set at 20C and 60 to 90 minutes for complete cure, longer for heavy machinery and large installations
Patching: clean the surface of dirt, grease and loose particles and remove all damaged and unsound concrete
Wet the surface but do not leave free-standing water
Mix 25kg with 3.5 to 4.0 litres of clean water, by hand or by low speed drill at 400 to 600 rpm
Apply into the void in successive layers up to 4cm each, waiting ten to fifteen minutes between layers
Scratch the surface with the trowel so the next layer adheres firmly, and wet warm layers with cold water
Cover with a wet cloth to protect the work from high temperature and sun while it cures
Clean all tools and equipment immediately with water after use

Technical overview

MAXGRIP is a quick setting, fluid anchoring mortar for concrete and masonry. It is a mixture of cements with selected special additives and aggregates, forming a pourable, cement base, non-shrinking, quick-setting hydraulic compound that needs only the addition of water. It is used to set anchor bolts, reinforcing rods, rail posts, signposts, balustrades, poles and heavy machinery, and as a patching mortar placed into voids in layers up to 4cm. It sets in 15 minutes at 20C, cures completely in 60 to 90 minutes and reaches 44.4 MPa compressive strength at 7 days. The Technical Bulletin cites no standard, CE marking or accredited test report, so all performance figures are manufacturer test data.

Surface suitability

Do not apply at temperatures below 5C or if lower temperatures are expected during the 24 hours following the repair, and do not apply on frozen or frosted surfaces. For cold weather installations heat the hole before use, store the material in a warm place, and never add antifreeze solutions to the mixing water. Mix only the amount that can be applied within eight to ten minutes, because MAXGRIP sets in fifteen to twenty minutes. Allow more curing time for heavy machinery and other large installations. Drill into sound concrete only; if the concrete is not sufficiently sound, drill the hole deeper. Once MAXGRIP has hardened it can only be removed by mechanical methods.
