Technical overview

MAXRITE 700 is a one-component, cement-based, silica fume-enhanced, polymer-modified and fibre-reinforced restoration mortar with corrosion inhibitors, designed for high performance structural concrete repair in aggressive environments and to give the steel reinforcement additional protection. Its long open time and thixotropy allow new and old concrete to be repaired without formwork, by hand with a trowel or by wet spraying, in layers of 5mm to 50mm. It is CE marked under EN 1504-3 as Type PCC, Class R4, with declared values of 56.4 MPa compressive strength at 28 days, 2.1 MPa bond to concrete under EN 1542 and Euroclass A1 reaction to fire. Those are CE declared performance values, not an Australian accredited test result, and no NATA or CodeMark certificate is published for this product.

Key applications

  • Repair of concrete affected by corrosion of reinforcements in marine environment, bridges, harbours and dams
  • Repair of general structural concrete on vertical or overhead surfaces, without form works
  • Repair of lines and shapes in pre-fabricated concrete elements damaged by mechanical impacts, corrosion of reinforcements and freeze/thaw cycles
  • Repair of pillars, lintels, raincaps and architectural concrete exposed permanently to extreme weather
  • Repair of concrete affected by repeated loads
  • Structural strengthening of concrete elements by adding mortar
  • Restoration of passivity for rebars, increasing cover and replacing contaminated concrete
  • Maintenance of industrial areas damaged by aggressive environment, acid rain and atmospheric pollution
  • Patching of cold joints and making of concave corners prior to waterproofing jobs in reservoirs, swimming-pools and basements

Surface suitability

  • Concrete (structurally sound and firm, without cement laitance, damaged and loose concrete removed, edges sawcut perpendicular to a minimum depth of 5mm)
  • Concrete with corroded reinforcement (bars fully exposed and de-rusted, surrounded by a minimum 1cm of MAXRITE 700)
  • Concrete dampened thoroughly with clean water, excess drained, applied once the surface acquires a matte appearance

Do not apply on substrates that are vitrified or enamelled, or treated with water repellent agents, and do not apply on bituminous materials, metals, wood, plasters or paints. Do not apply over weak substrates. Do not add cements, additives, aggregates or other compounds, do not use leftovers from previous mixes, and never add more water to restore workability - remix instead. Observe the recommended consumptions and thickness per layer of 5mm to 50mm. Do not apply in rain or when rain, contact with water, condensation, dampness or dew is expected within the first 24 hours after application. Do not apply with substrate or ambient temperature at or below 5C, or when temperatures are expected to fall below 5C within 24 hours, and do not apply to frozen or frost-covered surfaces. Do not use in contact with very soft water, acid water or carbonic water; where sulphates are present in groundwater, seawater or wastewater use the MAXRITE 700 ANTISULFAT sulphate-resisting version. MAXRITE 700 is an abrasive composition - avoid direct contact with skin and eyes and breathing dust, and use rubber gloves and safety goggles when handling, mixing and applying it.

Frequently asked questions

View all FAQs
  • When use MaxRite 700 vs MaxRest?
    Compatibility

MaxRite 700 is the premium repair mortar for aggressive environments - marine, bridges, harbours, dams, chloride-exposed structures. MaxRest is the standard repair mortar for general structural work. Both are R4-rated.

  • What's the strength rating?
    Performance

MaxRite 700 achieves 43.3 MPa compressive at 7 days, 56.4 MPa at 28 days. Flexural 10.3 MPa at 28 days. Bond strength exceeds 2.0 MPa. Includes silica fume, polymer modifiers, and corrosion inhibitors.

  • Application thickness and method?
    Installation

Apply 5-50mm per layer (wider range than standard MaxRest). Trowel or wet-spray application. Pot life 60 minutes, initial set 75 min, final set 120 min - much longer working time than MaxRest's 15-min pot life.

  • Suitable for marine and chloride environments?
    Compatibility

Yes - this is its primary application. Carbonation resistance ≤4.0mm, capillary absorption ≤0.5, chloride ≤0.05%. The corrosion inhibitor protects embedded steel beyond the patch boundary.

  • Standards compliance?
    Compliance

EN 1504-3 R4 Structural (Type PCC). Principles 3, 4, and 7 (CR, SS, RP). Also EN 1504-7 Declaration of Performance for rebar protection. Fire reaction Class A1.

Why trade professionals choose Drizoro

Drizoro is a Spanish manufacturer of cement based waterproofing and concrete repair products, supplied to the Australian trade through The Waterproofing Shop. The range on this site covers Maxseal Foundation and Maxseal Flex, along with repair mortars, grouts, joint products and mesh, used on concrete and masonry where water has to be held back rather than simply shed. Choosing between the rigid and the flexible grade is the key decision, and it comes down to the substrate, the direction of the water and how much movement the structure is likely to see.
