Parchem Hydrotite Waterstop
PVC waterstop strip for preventing water ingress at construction joints. Durable and flexible.
Parchem HYDROTITE is a flexible PVC strip cast into concrete at construction joints. It prevents water seeping through joints and cracks during hydrostatic pressure.
What it's for
- Construction joints in concrete foundations, basements and retaining walls
- Horizontal and vertical joints subject to hydrostatic pressure
- Use with sealant in the sealing groove for complete waterproofing
Why waterproofers buy it
- Flexible design adapts to concrete movement and shrinkage
- Prevents water ingress at construction joints under pressure
- Simple installation: embed in concrete before casting
- Long term durability. Does not absorb water or degrade
- Works with standard concrete placement techniques
Not for
Expansion joints (use separate sealant), areas with high dynamic movement, or above-water applications without additional sealant.

Technical overview
Key applications
- Construction joints for in-situ concrete
- Sewerage and water treatment plants
- Pipe penetrations
- Subway stations
- Swimming pools
- Basements
- Reservoirs
- Tunnels
- Pits
- Thru tie (tie bolt) holes, using RSS rod profiles
Surface suitability
- Cast in-situ concrete construction joints (clean, dry, smooth surface, not scabbled, free from oils, grease, dust and debris)
- Joints between new and existing concrete where there is little or no steel continuity
- Rough concrete surfaces (bedded into Leakmaster gun grade waterstop)
- Pipe penetrations, prior to concrete placement
- Thru tie (tie bolt) holes, using RSS rod profiles
Designed for use in in-situ concrete only and not suitable for masonry or blockwork construction. Not recommended for use in suspended slabs or expansion joints, and not for use where excessive shrinkage or movement may occur. A minimum of 100mm cover of concrete is required over the waterstop, based on concrete strength of 22.5N/mm2. Expansion rate can vary in salt or contaminated water. Protect from moisture or ponding of water prior to placement of concrete to avoid pre-expansion; if it has already expanded too much, remove the strip and replace it with new material. Nailing is not recommended unless used with adhesive. Store in a cool, dark, dry space and do not expose to water or sunlight.

Frequently asked questions
-
What makes Hydrotite different from PVC waterstops?
ApplicationHydrotite is a self-adhesive, co-extruded hydrophilic rubber strip that swells when wet to seal the joint. There is no site welding, no special intersections and it can be bonded to rough surfaces or even to existing PVC waterstops.
-
How is Hydrotite installed?
ApplicationPeel the release film and press the strip onto a clean, dry construction joint surface. On rough or uneven concrete, bed it with Leakmaster LV-Z gun-grade waterstop. Lengths are simply butt-joined.
-
Will Hydrotite expand prematurely if the joint gets wet during construction?
PerformanceThe delay coating slows the initial swell so the strip can be cast in without premature expansion. It also performs reliably through repeated wet/dry cycles in service.
-
Is Hydrotite compatible with drinking water?
CompatibilityYes. Hydrotite is certified to AS 4020:2018 for products in contact with drinking water, making it suitable for water tanks, reservoirs and treatment plants.
-
Is Hydrotite safe to handle?
SafetyYes. It is non-toxic and non-hazardous, with no site welding or solvents required. Standard construction PPE is sufficient.
