Technical overview

ALSAN FLASHING JARDIN is a single-component, ready-to-use bitumen-polyurethane resin for waterproofing upstands, planters, roof edges and all kinds of difficult roof details. The bitumen mass contains anti-root penetration properties for green roofs and the sheet states compliance with EN 13948 and the FLL procedure, and compliance with AS 4654.1. The product carries CE marking according to European Technical Assessment n 08/0114 and its declared properties are reported against CUAP 04.20-20 : 2007. Note that the same declared property table returns NPD, no performance determined, against resistance to plant root, so the root claim rests on the description text rather than on a declared test result.

Key applications

  • General roofing
  • Plaza decks and terraces
  • Retaining walls
  • Planter boxes
  • Green roofs
  • Upstands, planters, roof edges and all kinds of difficult roof details
  • Transitions, changes in plan and junctions between two supports, reinforced with POLYFLEECE

Surface suitability

  • Concrete (fully cured 28 days, minimum hardness 24 MPa, surface profile ICRI CSP 3 or 4, sound, clean and free of dust or debris)
  • Traditional granulated and sanded bituminous waterproofing membranes (no primer)
  • Wood (no primer)
  • Metal and prepainted metal (smooth, clean, free of oxidised bitumen, wiped with a non-greasy solvent such as acetone or MEK)
  • Polyurethane membrane TRAFIK HP (no primer)
  • PVC pipe, vertical partition wall only (sanded with sandpaper)
  • Membranes with an HDPE surface (primed with ELASTOCOL STICK)

Concrete must be fully cured, 28 days, with a minimum hardness of 24 MPa (3500 psi), sound, clean, free of dust or debris and prepared to a concrete surface profile ICRI CSP of 3 or 4. For proper curing the minimum application temperature is 5C, and the service temperature range is -30 to 150C. Do not use if rain or snow is predicted within 12 hours after the installation. Membranes with an HDPE surface require an ELASTOCOL STICK primer. PVC pipe must be sanded and is accepted on vertical partition walls only. All metal surfaces must be cleaned with a non-greasy solvent such as acetone or methyl ethyl ketone and must be smooth, clean and free of oxidised bitumen. The declared property table returns NPD, no performance determined, against resistance to plant root, so confirm the root resistance requirement with SOPREMA before relying on it for a green roof warranty. The Australian SDS classifies this product as a Flammable Liquid Category 2 with a flash point of 2.5 C and as Carcinogenicity Category 2. It is a highly flammable liquid and vapour, causes skin irritation, causes serious eye irritation, may cause allergy or asthma symptoms or breathing difficulties if inhaled, may cause drowsiness or dizziness and is suspected of causing cancer. Keep away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames and other ignition sources, use only in a well ventilated area, and wear protective gloves, protective clothing, eye protection and face protection.

Why trade professionals choose Soprema

Soprema is a French waterproofing manufacturer whose torch applied and liquid applied systems are supplied to the Australian trade. The range stocked here covers Soprasun Plus sheet membranes for roof and balcony work, Colphene 3000 for below ground and retaining wall work, Alsan Flashing liquid detailers for junctions and penetrations, and the Elastocol Stick and AntiRock primers that go underneath them. It is a system led range, so most jobs pull a primer, a membrane and a detailing product from the same brand.
