Technical overview
Key applications
- Bonding in the building, construction and metal industry
- Elastic bonding of objects, panels, profiles and other pieces on the most common substrates (wood, MDF, chipboard)
- Elastic structural bonding in automotive applications: buses, trains, trucks, caravans or trailers
- Installing heavy items without slipping
- Bonding to the bottom of natural stone tiles
- Bonded facade panels, refer to the Soudal Panel System
Surface suitability
- Brick and concrete (rigid, clean, free of dust and grease, dry or slightly moist)
- Metals tested by Soudal (stainless steel, AlMgSi1, electro-galvanized steel, AlCuMg1, hot dip galvanized steel, AlMg3, steel ST1403)
- Plastics tested by Soudal (polystyrene, PVC, polyamide, fiberglass reinforced epoxy, polyester)
- Treated timber, wood, MDF and chipboard
- Non-porous surfaces (prepared with a Soudal Surface Activator or cleaner)
- Porous surfaces (primed with Soudal Primer 150)
- Natural stone (bonding to the bottom of tiles only, not as a joint sealant on this surface)
T-Rex X-Treme can be used for bonding of natural stone but cannot be used as a joint sealant on that surface, so only on the bottom of natural stone tiles. Not suitable for bonding aquariums. Do not use in applications where continuous water immersion is possible. Not suitable for PE, PP, PTFE, bituminous substrates, copper or copper-containing materials such as bronze and brass. Bonding plastics like PMMA or polycarbonate in stress loaded applications can give rise to stress cracking and crazing and is not recommended. Do not apply in closed circumferences on non-porous surfaces. Application temperature is 5C to 35C. The optimal bond thickness is at least 2 mm for the elastic properties to come to full justice. For thicker adhesive layers and non-porous substrates, curing time is extended, and the bond can only be fully loaded after 24 to 48 hours, so support the bonded materials if necessary. A total absence of UV can cause a colour change, and discolouration due to chemicals, high temperatures or UV radiation may occur without affecting the technical properties. Avoid contact with bitumen, tar or other plasticizer releasing materials such as EPDM, neoprene and butyl, which can give rise to discolouration and loss of adhesion. Run a preliminary adhesion and compatibility test on every surface.

Frequently asked questions
-
How do I apply T-Rex X-Treme for panel bonding?
ApplicationApply bead strips every 15 cm on one substrate with high thrust-ratio caulking gun. Bond and tamp with a rubber hammer; support if necessary.
-
Which substrates suit it?
CompatibilityExcellent adhesion on stainless steel, galvanised steel, aluminium alloys, brass, brick, concrete, treated timber, PVC and many plastics. Recommend test on PMMA and polycarbonate.
-
How much per cartridge?
Coverage & CoatsSingle 290 mL cartridge per bonding job — apply as beads every 15 cm. Coverage depends on bead geometry.
-
Skin time and full load time?
Cure & Dry TimeSkin formation ≈ 4 min at 23°C/50% RH. Cure speed ≈ 2 mm/24h. Bond can be fully loaded after 24-48 hours.
-
What is the shelf life?
Storage15 months in original unopened cartridge in cool dry storage at 5-25°C.
-
Why is initial grab so high?
PerformanceThe SMX hybrid polymer formulation produces minimum 400 kg/m² tack — supports heavy panels without temporary mechanical support during cure.
