Key applications
- Non-destructive moisture testing of concrete floors and slabs
- Carbide Method equivalent readings for concrete and anhydrite/gypsum screeds
- Comparative concrete moisture testing to ASTM F2659
- Ambient relative humidity, temperature, dew point and humidity ratio readings
- In situ relative humidity testing of slabs to ASTM F2170 and BS 8201, 8203, 5325 with the optional Hygro-i2 probe
- Moisture content of wood and wood based products with the optional pin probe
- Moisture content of drywall and WME readings on other building materials with the optional pin probe
- Slab moisture checks before coatings or flooring are installed
- Moisture mapping, reports and charts through the Tramex Meters App
Surface suitability
- Concrete floor slabs (quantitative moisture content, non-destructive)
- Anhydrite and gypsum substrates and screeds (Carbide Method equivalent scales)
- Gypsum floor screed (comparative scale 0 to 12)
- Wood and wood based products (5 to 30% MC, optional pin probe)
- Drywall (0.0 to 8.5% MC, optional pin probe)
- Other building materials (WME comparative readings, optional pin probe)
- Ambient air within the building envelope (built-in hygrometer)
Depth of penetration in concrete is approximately 20mm, so the CMEX5 does not report moisture deeper in the slab - the optional Concrete Moisture Probe reads in-situ down to 100mm. In situ relative humidity testing to ASTM F2170 and BS 8201, 8203, 5325, pin readings in wood and drywall, and WME readings all require the matching optional plug-in probe, which is not supplied with the meter. Humidity accuracy is 0% to 99% RH +/-2% at 25C. Wood readings run 5 to 30% moisture content and drywall 0.0 to 8.5%, so anything outside those ranges cannot be measured. A species adjustment table and a temperature adjustment chart are supplied for precise pin readings in woods of varying densities.

What's Included
Why trade professionals choose Tramex
Tramex moisture meters are non-destructive instruments for checking whether a concrete slab is dry enough to coat, tile or cover. The range here runs to the CME5 and CMEX5 concrete meters, the RH short probe for readings taken inside the slab, and the calibration plates that let you verify the meter is reading true. Supplied to the Australian trade, with our team available if you need help picking the right meter for the work you do.
