ACTFLEX 5000 is a self-adhesive sheet membrane on a non-asphalt polymer resin base with cross-laminated HDPE reinforcement. It locks into the concrete with no torch and no bitumen odour or staining, and the factory selvedge gives a watertight lap without site adhesives. 1 m x 20 m roll.

Coverage

1 m x 20 m roll, 20 m² gross. Deduct 75 mm on every side and end lap. Take-off is measured area plus upturns, plus 20% for laps and wastage.

Not for

Exposed use (cover it with protection, backfill, topping or finish, it is not UV stable), exposed trafficable surfaces, structural crack repair, frosted substrates, standing water or sharp projections, or installing below 5°C without a trial area. Where a bonded topping slab needs chemical fusion to the membrane, use ACTFLEX 5000S.

Technical overview

ACTFLEX 5000 is a self-adhesive sheet waterproofing membrane built on a non-asphalt polymer resin base and reinforced with cross-laminated high-density polyethylene film. The factory self-adhesive selvedge edge produces a clean, watertight overlap without site adhesives or torching, and the sheet installs in both wet and dry conditions. It is used non-exposed on basement walls, planter boxes, retaining walls, external lift shaft walls and covered rooftop areas. Designed and manufactured to comply with AS/NZS 4858 and AS 4654.1, with verification testing to be commissioned. No accredited certificate is currently held on file for this product and all performance values are published as typical R&D characteristic values.

Surface suitability

  • Concrete (structurally sound, minimum 28 days cured, free of standing water and frost)
  • Concrete (blowholes, voids, spalls and defects reinstated with FORBUILD 100 or FORCRETE 100, finished flush and cured)
  • Masonry and below-ground structures (clean, dry and free of bond-inhibiting contaminants)
  • Substrates with any specified primer applied and dry

Non-exposed applications only - ACTFLEX 5000 must be covered by the specified protection, backfill, topping or finish and must not be left permanently exposed to UV. Not for use as an exposed trafficable surface. Not a substitute for structural crack repair; active and structural cracks must be treated before the membrane is laid. Do not install over frosted substrates, standing water, or substrates with sharp projections or protruding fixings. Do not install below 5C without confirming adhesion on a trial area. Laps must be rolled and inspected - an unrolled lap is not a sealed lap. Where a bonded topping slab requires chemical fusion to the membrane surface, specify ACTFLEX 5000S instead.

    Compatibility

    5000 is a self-adhesive HDPE-reinforced sheet membrane for below-grade waterproofing - basements, planter boxes, retaining walls, and root-resistant applications. Pressure-activated self-adhesion, no torching or solvents required.

  • What's the membrane construction?
    Performance

    5000 has a polymer resin layer with HDPE reinforcement (no asphalt). Total thickness 1.55mm including a 0.13mm surface film. Puncture resistance 370 N, elongation 310% transverse / 280% longitudinal.

  • How is it installed?
    Installation

    Lay the membrane against the substrate (no primer needed), peel the release liner, and press into place. The self-adhesive backing activates under pressure. 20 m² per roll. Apply at standard ambient temperatures.

  • Is it root-resistant?
    Compatibility

    Yes. The HDPE reinforcement layer is permanently root-resistant - ideal for planter boxes, green roofs, and below-grade applications adjacent to landscaped areas. Class III certified.

  • What chemicals does it resist?
    Performance

    5000 resists acids, alkalis, salts, and most aggressive groundwater chemistry. The HDPE chemistry is inert to most soil contaminants found in urban below-grade applications. No asphalt means no creep or odour.
