How to Use

Cut to length, peel the release paper from the butyl side and press into place with a spatula or small vinyl roller with the fabric face upwardsConfirm all surfaces are clean, sound, smooth, dry and free of residual moisture, loose material, dirt, dust, oil, grease, wax residues, laitance, curing compounds, release agents, existing coatings, moss, algae and sharp protruding objects
Mechanically remove structurally unsound layers and surface contaminants by grinding, abrasive blasting or equivalent methods
Point masonry surfaces flush and fill and level voids, holes, pitted sections, heavy undulations and non-structural cracks
Confirm building surfaces are fit for purpose and installed to the manufacturer recommendations and the relevant building standards in force
Leave non porous and dense surfaces including metals and PVC plastics unprimed
Prime highly porous surfaces or surfaces containing dust or residues with Gripset GP, E60 or Xpress H20 Primer Plus
Use Gripset E60 on damp surfaces or surfaces containing high levels of residual moisture
Unroll the BRW PF Tape and measure the required length of joints or area to be sealed
Cut the tape using scissors or a sharp knife
Remove the release paper from the butyl rubber side and position the tape with the fabric face exposed upwards
Press into place with a spatula, small vinyl roller or similar, pushing out all air pockets and creases and achieving good connection to the substrate
For large runs over joint areas, remove the release paper gradually as the tape is unrolled and adhere into position
Apply finishes immediately after the tape is adhered in place
Finish over with Gripset adhesives, membranes, coatings, mortars and renders

Technical overview

Gripset BRW PF Tape is a 0.8mm thick self-adhesive butyl sealing band for flashing and detailing internal and external surfaces that need protection against moisture ingress, vibration and flexing. It is supplied in 80mm x 10m and 150mm x 10m rolls and bonds to primed or dense concrete, most metals, timber, compressed fibre cement sheeting, plasterboard, masonry, glazed surfaces, marble, granite, ceramics, plastics and polycarbonate. It gives an instant seal with no drying or curing time and is designed to be finished over with Gripset adhesives, membranes, coatings, mortars and renders. The 01/10/2024 TDS publishes EN, ISO and ASTM test values but cites no test report number and no accredited certificate.
