How to Use

Mix a 20kg bag into 4 litres of water, pour onto the primed subfloor and spread with an ARDEX stand-up spreader or hand trowel from 2mm to 20mmConfirm the concrete floor is solid, clean and free of wax, grease, asphalt, latex compounds, curing and sealing compounds and any other surface contaminant
Confirm the subfloor complies with AS 1884 and that concrete has a compressive strength exceeding 20MPa and a tensile strength greater than 1.5MPa
Mechanically clean the floor by shotblasting, scarifying, diamond grinding or shaving to provide a roughened, clean, sound, solid and open porous surface
Do not acid etch, and do not use solvents or sweeping compounds
Confirm the subfloor temperature is a minimum of 10C
Prime internal applications with ARDEX P 51 mixed 1 part to 1 part water, applied evenly with a broom, brushing off all puddles and excess primer, and allow to dry to a thin clear film for a minimum of 3 hours and a maximum of 24 hours
Prime external and internal wet area applications with one roller coat of ARDEX WPM 300 at 3m2/litre
Broadcast 0.5mm clean dry sand over the wet ARDEX WPM 300 at approximately 700gms/m2, cure overnight, then broom and vacuum the excess sand off
Add the 20kg bag to 4 litres of water while mixing with an ARDEX mixing paddle and a heavy duty 650rpm electric drill for 2 to 3 minutes, and do not overwater
Pour the mixed material onto the prepared subfloor
Where the subfloor has not been primed, apply the material in a thin layer worked into the surface first, then apply further material to the required thickness
Spread in place with an ARDEX stand-up spreader or ARDEX hand trowel, using the ARDEX gauging tool with height adjustment to obtain an even thickness of 2mm to 20mm
Wear football boots with rubber or nylon studs to avoid leaving marks in the liquid material
Do not rework the material after 10 minutes working time
Limit each pour to a maximum panel of 100sqm with no single dimension exceeding 8m, and carry all sub-floor movement joints through the topping to the surface
Protect exterior installations from direct sunlight and draughts
Allow approximately 2 to 3 hours at 20C before foot traffic
Allow 24 hours before installing floor coverings, 48 hours for direct stick applications and vinyl, and 2 days up to 5mm, 5 days up to 10mm or 7 days up to 20mm before coating

It is used for filling, smoothing and levelling subfloors prior to coating or installing tiles and other suitable floorcoverings, and as a wear surface in workshops, domestic garages, storage areas, light commercial areas, courtyards and footpaths. It is applied from 2mm to 20mm in one application and takes foot traffic after approximately 2 to 3 hours at 20C. ARDEX requires the subfloor to comply with AS 1884 and concrete to have a compressive strength exceeding 20MPa and a tensile strength greater than 1.5MPa. The published strength and density figures are ARDEX values with no accredited test report quoted on the data sheet.

ARDEX K 301 may be applied to internal and external concrete floors and ARDEX A 38 screeds only. Subfloors must be dry to AS 1884 and properly primed, and must be mechanically cleaned by shotblasting, scarifying, diamond grinding or shaving. Acid etching is not an acceptable method of cleaning the subfloor, and solvents and sweeping compounds must not be used. Subfloor temperatures must be a minimum of 10C, and concrete must have a compressive strength exceeding 20MPa and a tensile strength greater than 1.5MPa. Do not overwater. Concrete mixers and hand mixing are not suitable methods of mixing. Do not rework the material after 10 minutes working time. Exterior installations must be protected from direct sunlight and draughts which could lead to accelerated drying of the surface. No poured panel may exceed 100sqm and no single dimension may exceed 8m, and all sub-floor joints subject to movement must be carried through the topping to the surface and filled with a flexible sealing material or a proprietary joint type. ARDEX K 301 contains Portland cement and quartz sand. Avoid generation of dust, do not inhale dust, avoid contact with eyes or skin, and wear suitable protective gloves and safety glasses.
