How to Use

Apply evenly with brush, long nap roller or conventional spray at a coverage rate of 6m2 per litreMechanically prepare and vacuum clean the substrate to remove all dirt, dust, curing compounds, oils, grease, surface sealers and any other contaminants
Leave the surface sound, clean, dry and free from sharp edges, loose or other materials which may damage the subsequent coating
Allow new concrete to cure a minimum of 28 days before application commences
Allow new screed to cure a minimum of 7 days before application commences
Allow new render to cure a minimum of 7 days before application commences
Repair all cracks or holes before application commences
Check substrate moisture; where it is greater than 80% relative humidity (ASTM F2170) or exceeds 15g/m2/24hrs (ASTM F1869), switch to a minimum two coats of ARDEX WPM 300 (HydrEpoxy) as the nominated primer
Confirm ambient and substrate temperature is not below 10C and not above 35C
Apply evenly with brush, long nap roller or conventional spray at a coverage rate of 6m2 per litre
Allow a drying time of at least one hour before the subsequent ARDEX membrane application
Overcoat the primed surface within the same day of application to avoid intercoat contamination
Do not empty excess primer back into the original packaging

Technical overview

ARDEX WPM 265 is a red pigmented, water-based acrylic primer that creates a positive bond between the substrate and ARDEX water-based membranes. It is the nominated primer for ARDEX WPM 002, WPM 310, WPM 330, WPM 155 Rapid Plus and WPM 130 Builders Express over concrete, masonry, blockwork, brick and compressed fibre cement sheet, internally and externally. It is solvent free, non-flammable and low VOC at 11g/L, applied at 6m2 per litre and left at least one hour before the membrane goes on. It is a primer, not a moisture barrier: where substrate moisture is greater than 80% relative humidity (ASTM F2170) or exceeds 15g/m2/24hrs (ASTM F1869), ARDEX require a minimum two coats of ARDEX WPM 300 (HydrEpoxy) as the nominated primer instead. The data sheet cites no Australian Standard classification and no accredited test report.

Do not apply ARDEX WPM 265 if the ambient temperature and or substrate temperature is below 10C or above 35C. Primed surfaces should be overcoated within the same day of application to avoid intercoat contamination. Where masonry or concrete substrate moisture content is greater than 80% relative humidity (ASTM F2170) or exceeds 15g/m2/24hrs (ASTM F1869), a minimum two coats of ARDEX WPM 300 (HydrEpoxy) must be the nominated primer or coating instead. Do not empty excess primer back into the original packaging as this may cause contamination of the contents. This product may cause an allergic reaction to the skin: wear protective gloves, clothing, eye and face protection, avoid inhaling mist or vapours and ensure adequate ventilation during mixing and application. Prevent material entering drains and waterways.
