How to Use

Apply two coats by fibre brush or nylon broom at 1.0 to 1.5 kg/m2 per coat, about 1mm thick per coatConfirm the surface is solid, sound, rough and uniform, and clean and free of paints, efflorescence, loose particles, greases, release oils, dust and plaster
Remove previous lime or acrylic treatments, leaving only strongly adhered remains
Open the texture of smooth or poorly absorbent substrates by sandblasting or high-pressure water; aggressive mechanical means are not advisable
Open all holes and cracks to at least 2.0 cm and patch with MAXREST
Stop any water leaks with MAXPLUG before waterproofing
Clean and passivate exposed reinforcement with MAXREST PASSIVE; cut surface and non-structural irons back 2 cm and cover with a structural repair mortar
Apply an anti-efflorescence treatment such as MAXCLEAR SULFALT where salt crystallisation is a risk
Saturate the whole surface with clean water, allow the excess to drain, and leave no free-standing or pooled water
Pour Component A into a clean container and add Component B gradually while mixing with a low-speed drill at 400-600 rpm for 2-3 minutes until lump free
Let the mix rest 5 minutes, then remix briefly before application
Apply the first coat in a thick, homogeneous and continuous layer with a fibre brush or nylon broom at 1.0-1.5 kg/m2, about 1mm thick, and do not spread it like paint
Reinforce fissures, concrete joints and repaired active cracks with DRIZORO MESH 58 bedded in the first coat in strips at least 20 cm wide, then coat over
Allow a minimum of 12-16 hours and a maximum of 24 hours between coats
Wash down and re-saturate the surface before the second coat, leaving no free standing water
Apply the second coat to a total consumption of 2.0-3.0 kg/m2; on vertical surfaces run the second layer horizontally, and on pipelines run it in the direction of flow
Keep the coating moist for at least 24 hours after application with polyethylene sheet or damp burlap and do not use curing agents
Allow 7 days at 20C and 50% RH before covering with ceramic tile, plaster or earth and gravel
Allow 14 days before permanent water contact, then wash the surface with water before putting into service

Technical overview

MAXSEAL FLEX is a two-component flexible waterproof coating for concrete and masonry. Component A is a water-based special acrylic resin and Component B is a mortar of special cements, additives and well-graded aggregates. Cured, it forms a non-toxic, flexible, vapour-permeable coating that withstands 10 bar positive and 3.5 bar negative water pressure, so it can be used from either side of the structure. It is CE marked to EN 1504-2 as a mortar for the protection of concrete, declared under system 2+ with AENOR as the notified body, and it is approved for contact with potable water under European Directive 2020/2184 and BS-6920. No AS/NZS 4858 or AS 4654.1 classification is stated in the Drizoro technical bulletin.

Do not apply if rain, water contact, humidity or dew is expected within 24 hours of application. Optimum application temperature is 5-35C: do not apply below 5C or if lower temperatures are expected within the following 24 hours, and never on frozen or flooded surfaces. Do not apply over waterproofed, bituminous substrates or resins. Do not add water, cement, admixtures, sand or any other compound; to recover workability remix only, never add more water, and do not mix more material than can be applied in 20-30 minutes. Keep the coating moist for at least 24 hours after application with polyethylene sheet or damp burlap and do not use curing agents. Allow 7 days at 20C and 50% RH before covering with ceramic tile, plaster or earth and gravel, and 14 days before permanent water contact, then wash the surface with water before putting into service. Component B causes severe skin burns and eye damage, may cause an allergic skin reaction and may cause respiratory irritation: wear protective gloves, clothing and eye protection.
