Technical overview

MAXGRIP is a one-component, quick-setting, shrinkage-compensated fluid mortar of special cements, selected additives and aggregates, designed for use as a rapid anchoring grout in placing and fixing elements in horizontal concrete or masonry. It is mixed with clean water only, sets in 15 minutes at 20C and the nut can be placed after 60 to 90 minutes. Compressive strength runs 14.3 MPa at 90 minutes to 55.1 MPa at 28 days. Drizoro states it must not be used for structural concrete repair, levelling or floor repair. No accredited test certificate and no CE Declaration of Performance are published for MAXGRIP; the figures above are the manufacturer's own values from Technical Bulletin 11.02.

Key applications

  • Anchoring of foundation plates and construction elements
  • Anchoring of heavy machinery, small machines and motors
  • Fixing of safety rails, hand rails and balustrades
  • Fixing of signs, posts, parking meters and park seats
  • Fixing of bolts, hooks, pulleys and fences

Surface suitability

  • Horizontal concrete (drill hole structurally sound, clean and free from grease, gypsum, loose concrete or any other material that could affect adhesion)
  • Horizontal concrete (cavity cleaned of loose particles and dust with blow pump, vacuum, compressed air or water, starting from the bottom of the hole)
  • Masonry (surface dampened with clean water using a swab to saturated surface dry, avoiding any free-standing water)
  • Steel and metal elements to be anchored (thoroughly cleaned and free of grease, rust and dust)

MAXGRIP is designed for anchoring and fixing elements in horizontal concrete or masonry. Do not use it for structural concrete repair, levelling or floor repair; use another Drizoro product for those applications. Do not use more water for mixing than the ratio recommended and do not mix MAXGRIP with other compounds. MAXGRIP sets very quickly, so mix only the amount of material that can be placed in the next five minutes, and do not retemper or extend placement after 10 minutes. Do not apply when ambient or application surface temperature is below 5C or if such temperatures are expected within the 8 hours after placing, and do not apply on frozen or frosted surfaces. Do not add anti-freeze admixtures to the mixing water. Setting times are measured at 20C; lower temperatures and higher relative humidity increase these figures. Allow more curing time if the element to be anchored is heavy or is going to be subjected to heavy loads, and keep the element or anchor immobilised during the first few hours until the mortar has achieved a suitable mechanical strength. MAXGRIP is an abrasive product, so protective rubber gloves and safety goggles must be used to prepare and apply the mixture.

Why trade professionals choose Drizoro

Drizoro is a Spanish manufacturer of cement based waterproofing and concrete repair products, supplied to the Australian trade through The Waterproofing Shop. The range on this site covers Maxseal Foundation and Maxseal Flex, along with repair mortars, grouts, joint products and mesh, used on concrete and masonry where water has to be held back rather than simply shed. Choosing between the rigid and the flexible grade is the key decision, and it comes down to the substrate, the direction of the water and how much movement the structure is likely to see.
