Technical overview

MAXSEAL TRAFFIC is a two-component mortar based on special cements and a water-based synthetic resin, designed as a waterproofing and traffic bearing layer in one product for concrete floors exposed to car or industrial traffic. It works against both positive and negative hydrostatic pressure and is CE marked under EN 1504-2 as a mortar for the protection of concrete, coating (C), under Principles 1-PI/1.3, 2-MC/2.2 and 8-IR/8.2. Declared performance is stated against European test methods including EN 12390-8, EN 1542, EN 1062-3, EN 1062-6 and EN ISO 7783. The Technical Bulletin states no AS/NZS 4858 or AS 4654.1 classification for this product.

Key applications

  • Waterproofing underground parking, garages, horizontal decks and ramps
  • Surfaces exposed to wheel traffic
  • Slab-on-grade and concrete floors against rising damp and negative water pressure
  • Warehouses, factories and residential buildings
  • Basements, tunnels and galleries subject to high water pressure and high wearing abrasion
  • Line marking coating with anti-slippery finish, zebra crossing and emergency lines

Surface suitability

  • Concrete (structurally sound and solid, without cement laitance, old coatings or paints)
  • Smooth or poorly absorbent concrete (mechanically textured by abrasive disc, sand-blasting or scarification, then vacuumed)
  • Concrete saturated with clean water, excess water drained away, no free-standing or pooled water

Apply only on concrete substrates. Do not apply on old coatings, bituminous or asphalt substrates. Do not add cements, additives or aggregates, do not add water and keep the liquid to powder ratio as supplied. Respect the minimum and maximum consumption recommended per layer. Do not apply below 5C or if lower temperatures are expected within the following 24 hours, on frozen surfaces, or if rain is expected within 24 hours of application. In strong wind or direct sunlight above 30C provide moisture curing by fog-spraying water after application. Pot life is about 30 minutes; remix briefly to keep workability but never add more resin or water. Do not overwork the surface with the brush or broom once the coating is spread. MAXSEAL TRAFFIC can be stained by rubber wheels and skid marks, so use the grey version where the finish matters. It is an abrasive compound, so protective rubber gloves, goggles and a powder mask must be used during application. Component B is classified Warning, H315 causes skin irritation, H317 may cause an allergic skin reaction, H319 causes serious eye irritation, H335 may cause respiratory irritation.

Why trade professionals choose Drizoro

Drizoro is a Spanish manufacturer of cement based waterproofing and concrete repair products, supplied to the Australian trade through The Waterproofing Shop. The range on this site covers Maxseal Foundation and Maxseal Flex, along with repair mortars, grouts, joint products and mesh, used on concrete and masonry where water has to be held back rather than simply shed. Choosing between the rigid and the flexible grade is the key decision, and it comes down to the substrate, the direction of the water and how much movement the structure is likely to see.
