Marmox Shower Niches are waterproof, tile-ready wall cavity units for recessed storage in wet walls. Each niche is an extruded polystyrene (XPS) core coated on both sides with fibreglass-reinforced polymer cement. They come already constructed and fit walls with cavities 86 mm or deeper.

Internal sizes: Small 260 x 300 mm, Medium 380 x 300 mm, Large 550 x 300 mm, Extra Large 700 x 300 mm. Fits wall cavities 86 mm or deeper. Cut the opening to the niche external dimensions, nog all 4 sides, fix with approved Marmox adhesives, and seal every perimeter joint with Marmox Waterproofing Tape before tiling.

Fits walls with cavities 86mm or deeper only - confirm the cavity depth before ordering. Cut the wall opening to match the niche external dimensions and insert nogging to support all 4 sides; the niche is not designed to span an unsupported opening. Fix with approved Marmox adhesives and mechanical fixings where required. Waterproof performance depends on the installation: seal all perimeter joints with Marmox Waterproofing Tape, reinforce corners and edges where required to maintain waterproof continuity, and check that all joints and penetrations are sealed before tiling. Built-in falls run to 2 sides only, so drainage depends on installation orientation. Marmox publishes no depth, weight, load rating, fire rating or standards certification for these niches.

What are Marmox shower niches?
CompatibilityMarmox Prefabricated Shower Niches are factory-built, fully waterproofed XPS-cored niche boxes that fit into wall framing. They eliminate the need to site-build and waterproof niche cavities, saving hours of waterproofing detail work per shower.

How are they installed?
InstallationFix into the wall stud cavity at the desired height, screw the flange to the studs, then waterproof the niche-to-wall flange using ACTFLEX 906 WPU or similar liquid membrane. Tile the niche interior using standard tile adhesive.

Are they pre-waterproofed?
PerformanceYes. The XPS core is closed-cell and waterproof, and the polymer-modified cement coating bonds directly to waterproofing membranes. You still need to seal the perimeter flange to the surrounding wall membrane.
