Reinforced PVC sheet membrane, Class II to AS 4654.1. Welded laps, no glue, and you can leave it exposed.

ACTFLEX POLYFIN Type P is a scrim-reinforced PVC sheet for roofs, podiums, tanks and below-ground work. It is mechanically fastened and hot-air welded at every lap, so there is no adhesive bond line to fail. Certified Class II to AS 4654.1-2012 in NATA-accredited testing (Report 608-1). 1.5 mm thick, 2 m x 20 m roll.

Where to use it

  • Flat roofs, including fully exposed roofing systems, designed and installed to AS 4654.2
  • Podiums, structural decks and commercial balconies
  • Planter boxes, green roofs and landscaped decks
  • Basements, below-grade retaining structures, tunnels and civil infrastructure
  • Water tanks, reservoirs, swimming pools and water features

Why waterproofers buy it

  • Class II to AS 4654.1-2012, NATA-accredited Report 608-1
  • UV stable. Leave it permanently exposed with no topcoat, protection layer or ballast. Certified for pedestrian and occasional service vehicle traffic
  • Elongation after UV exposure 320% against a 57% pass requirement
  • Hot-air welded laps. No adhesive to age, creep or debond, and every seam can be probe-tested before handover
  • No cure period. Watertight the moment a seam is welded and proven. Mechanically fastened, so it tolerates residual construction moisture in a cured slab
  • Flexible to -25°C without cracking. Root resistant
  • 10 year Forspec product warranty

Coverage

2 m x 20 m roll: 40 m² gross, 39.0 m² effective at a 50 mm side lap, 38.0 m² at 100 mm. Allow at least 10% extra on a simple rectangular roof, more on cut-up areas. Confirm the lap width in the project spec before ordering.

Not for

Direct contact with bitumen, asphalt, torch-on membranes, polystyrene insulation or solvent-based coatings and sealants without a separation layer, regular vehicle traffic, substrates that cannot hold the fasteners, falls under 1% (1:100), free water or green concrete, or potable water contact without written Forspec confirmation (no AS/NZS 4020 certification held).

Technical overview

ACTFLEX POLYFIN TYPE P is the scrim-reinforced PVC field sheet of the POLYFIN membrane system. It is mechanically fastened, semi-loose laid and hot-air welded at every lap, so the system does not depend on adhesion to the substrate. It is independently certified CLASS II under AS 4654.1-2012 in NATA-accredited testing to ISO/IEC 17025 (Report No. 608-1), and systems are to be designed and installed in accordance with AS 4654.2-2012. Certified abrasion results qualify it for pedestrian and occasional service vehicle traffic. No AS/NZS 4020 certification is held, so potable-water contact requires written confirmation from FORSPEC Technical Services.

Key applications

  • Flat roofs, including fully exposed roofing systems
  • Podiums, structural decks and commercial balconies
  • Planter boxes, green roofs and landscaped decks
  • Basements and below-grade retaining structures
  • Tunnels, rail transit corridors and civil infrastructure
  • Water tanks, reservoirs and water-retaining structures
  • Swimming pools and water features
  • Grain storage and agricultural containment facilities

Surface suitability

  • Concrete (fully cured, dimensionally stable and structurally sound, Concrete Surface Profile 2 to 4 per ICRI, free of laitance and weak material)
  • Cement render and screed (fully cured, sound, firm and non-friable)
  • Structural steel decking (fixed and stable, fastener pull-out capacity verified by the project engineer)
  • Timber and plywood decking (structurally fixed, dimensionally stable, fastener pull-out capacity verified)
  • Insulation boards (compatible board types only, polystyrene requires a separation layer)
  • Existing membranes (only mechanically fastened over a separation layer and only with written FORSPEC approval)

Mechanical anchorage is the sole means of restraint, so substrates that cannot develop the required fastener pull-out capacity are not approved and fastener selection, fixing density and pattern must be designed by the project engineer for the wind uplift condition. Not compatible with bituminous products, polystyrene insulation or solvent-based coatings and sealants in direct contact, and a separation layer is mandatory where contact occurs. Certified for pedestrian and occasional service vehicle traffic only; regular vehicle traffic is NOT approved and needs a separate trafficable wearing surface. Substrate falls must be a minimum of 1% (1:100) with positive drainage, ponding is not a design condition. Do not lay over free water, ponded water, green or uncured concrete. Laps must be clean and dry at the moment of welding and every seam must be probe-tested. No AS/NZS 4020 certification is held, so potable-water contact requires written confirmation from FORSPEC Technical Services.
