How to Use

Introduce into the drilled holes through supply vessels such as a funnel with pressure plug until the substrate is completely saturated, or inject with packers at under 10 bar.Press out masonry with larger voids, chamber stones, cracks or open joints with ASOCRET-BM before drilling
Insulate the masonry in the area of the drill hole barrier with AQUAFIN-1K to stop the material escaping
Set out the drill hole line in 1 row or 2 rows according to the absorbency of the masonry, tighter spacing giving greater certainty
Drill holes of 30 mm diameter at approx. 10 to 12.5 cm spacing at 30 to 45 degrees inclination
Set the drilling angle so the holes cover at least one bed joint, and a minimum of 2 bed joints in thicker masonry work
Drill approx. 2 cm short of the masonry thickness for pressureless injection, or approx. 5 cm short for low pressure injection
On low or non absorbent substrates arrange the drill holes in two levels in the joint area with a height offset under 8 cm
On absorbent natural stone masonry place the drill holes in the stone, and on dense quarry stone masonry place them in the joints
Remove all drilling dust thoroughly so the masonry absorbs the maximum amount of active substance
Pressureless method: introduce AQUAFIN-F into the drilled holes through supply vessels such as a funnel with pressure plug
Continue the impregnation until the substrate is completely saturated
Low pressure method: insert injection packers and inject under 10 bar until the adjacent grout is filled to a matt shine
Remove the injection packers after low pressure injection
Backfill the drilled holes completely with ASOCRET-BM or seal them with suitable cement-based mortars

Technical overview

AQUAFIN-F is a ready to use, solvent free silane silicification solution used to form a retroactive horizontal barrier against rising damp in masonry work. It is introduced into pre-drilled holes either without pressure through a funnel with a pressure plug until the substrate is completely saturated, or by low pressure injection under 10 bar with packers. It is hydrophobic and constricting, has a high penetration depth, prevents capillary water transport and stays vapour permeable. Schomburg states it is tested and certified in accordance with WTA relevant guidelines up to 95% moisture penetration under WTA data sheet 4-10. No accredited test report number is quoted in the technical data sheet.

AQUAFIN-F is not suitable for exposed surfaces such as concrete, masonry work or plaster; it is an injection product for the masonry cross section, not a surface treatment. Protect surfaces that are not to be treated. The renovation procedure follows WTA technical data sheet 4-10 and preliminary investigations such as moisture balance and salt analysis are generally required before injecting. Apply only at a substrate and application temperature from 5C to 30C. For wall thicknesses over 60 cm use double-sided injection or pressure injection. This product is classified Danger: H314 causes severe skin burns and eye damage. Do not breathe dusts or mists, avoid contact with the eyes and skin, and wear protective gloves of natural latex, polychloroprene or nitrile rubber, protective clothing and safety goggles to DIN EN 166. Keep away from heat and direct sunlight, keep out of the reach of children and do not allow the product to enter the sewer system.
