How to Use

Brush the ASOCRET-HS-FLEX bond coat into the matt damp substrate, then trowel or spray ASOCRET-BIS-5/40 into it while still wet at 5 to 40 mm, max 20 mm per step on large surfaces.Have the current state of the concrete checked by an expert and/or structural engineer and obtain the test report before starting
Confirm the substrate is firm, grippy, load-bearing, pore open and free of adhesion inhibiting substances
Where no previous concrete restoration work has been carried out, prepare the substrate by granulate or shot blasting or ultra-high pressure water jetting at 500 to 2000 bar
Pretreat exposed reinforcing steel with ASOCRET-HS-FLEX corrosion protection in accordance with its technical data sheet
Pre-moisten the dry substrate so it is matt damp at the time of application
Put approx. 2.8 to 3.0 L of water into a clean mixing bucket and mix in the 25kg powder component to a homogeneous, lump-free mass
Pre-mix for approx. 3 minutes, then add the remaining water and mix sufficiently
Use a forced paddle mixer for larger coatings
Brush the ASOCRET-HS-FLEX mineral bond coat fully covering and pore-deep into the matt damp substrate with a hard brush
Apply ASOCRET-BIS-5/40 into the bond coat while it is still wet, at the required layer thickness
Compact the mortar and level it flush with the surface
On large surface applications limit each step to a maximum 20 mm layer thickness and build greater thicknesses in multiple skin-layed applications
Protect the mortar surfaces from rapid drying and keep them damp for at least 3 to 5 days with water mist nozzles, wet jute sheets or film
Attach any protective film so that air exchange is ruled out
Where cementitious waterproofing slurry follows, it can be applied as an alternative curing method after approx. 24 hours
Allow approx. 24 hours before foot traffic and before overcoating
Rinse tools with water immediately after use

Technical overview

ASOCRET-BIS-5/40 is a one component, pre-blended cementitious repair mortar for breakage points of 5 to 40 mm. It is a non slump re-profiling mortar for concrete repair on walls and floors, for levelling pool tank walls and for modelling pool edges in swimming pools. It is watertight, vapour permeable, frost proof and resistant to thaw, chloride-free and has high resistance to carbonation, and it can be trowelled or sprayed. Schomburg CE marks it after DIN EN 1504-03 and gives a tensile adhesion strength of 2 N/mm2 or greater to DIN EN 1542. No accredited test report number is quoted in the technical data sheet.

Before any concrete restoration measures the current state must generally be checked by an expert and/or structural engineer, and the test report must be made available to the applicator before starting. Substrate and application temperature is approx. 5 to 30C. On large surface applications the layer thickness can be up to a maximum of 20 mm in one application step, and greater thicknesses must be built up in multiple skin-layed applications. Do not add water or new mortar to ASOCRET-BIS-5/40 that has already set in order to make it workable again, because of the risk of inadequate strength development. Protect surfaces that are not to be treated. Keep the mortar surfaces damp for at least 3 to 5 days after application, and pay extra attention to curing where the work is exposed to direct sunlight, draughts, high temperature fluctuations or low humidity. This product is classified Danger: H315 causes skin irritation, H318 causes serious eye damage and H335 may cause respiratory irritation. Avoid breathing dust and wear protective gloves, eye protection and face protection.
