Technical overview
Key applications
- Laying ceramic tiles and boards using thin-bed laying
- Walls and floors
- Interior and exterior use
- Heated and unheated substrates
- Large format tiles
- Over firmly adhering existing tiled finishes
- Over bonded waterproofing, subject to the water impact class of DIN 18534 and DIN 18531
Surface suitability
- Concrete (load-bearing, dry, even, sealed in the surface, free of cracks and laitance)
- Cement screed CT (prime absorbent substrates with ASO-Unigrund-GE, ASO-Unigrund-K or ASO-Unigrund-PLUS)
- Calcium sulphate screeds CA and CAF (primed before laying; barrier primer such as ASODUR-GBM when laying large format tiles)
- Mastic asphalt screeds AS
- Magnesia screeds MA (protect with a barrier primer such as ASODUR-GBM to prevent direct contact)
- Floor levelling compounds
- Cement-based plaster, gypsum plaster, cement-lime plaster and lightweight plaster
- Gypsum fibre boards and gypsum boards
- Cement and fibre cement boards
- Decoupling mats and panels, dry screeds, raised floors and tile bearing elements
- Firmly adhering tiled finishes (prime non-absorbent substrates with ASO-Unigrund-S or ASO-Unigrund-PLUS)
- Bonded waterproofing (check the substrate against the planned water impact class of DIN 18534 and DIN 18531)
The substrate must be load-bearing, dry, even, sealed in the surface, free of cracks and free of adhesion inhibiting substances and laitance layers. Substrate and application temperature must be approx. 5 to 25 C. Do not stir or add water to existing material that has already set in order to make it workable again. Use a barrier primer such as ASODUR-GBM to protect substrates that are sensitive to moisture, such as magnesite screeds, from direct contact, and to protect calcium sulphate screeds when laying large format tiles. Protect the product from water, frost, draughts, direct sunlight and mechanical loads until it has dried completely. When laying natural stone and synthetic stone the product-specific properties of the coating materials and the stone manufacturer's laying recommendations must be taken into account, and trial laying is recommended. Rooms, surfaces and building components that expect water exposure after DIN 18534, DIN 18531 and DIN 18535 must be protected by bonded waterproofing. Contains portland cement. It causes serious eye damage, causes skin irritation and may cause respiratory irritation. Avoid breathing dust and wear protective gloves, protective clothing and eye or face protection.
