Technical overview
Key applications
- Priming concrete surfaces to improve the adhesion of SOPREMA bituminous torch-on membranes
- Priming metal surfaces to improve the adhesion of SOPREMA bituminous torch-on membranes
- Priming concrete and metal on civil engineering structures ahead of torch-applied waterproofing
- Roofs
- Civil works
- Foundations
Surface suitability
- Concrete (clean, dry and free of any residue that may hinder adherence)
- Metal (clean, dry and free of any residue that may hinder adherence)
ANTIROCK PRIMER is a highly flammable product. Store away from direct sunlight and open flame. Keep ignition sources away during application and until solvent has evaporated. Harmful if inhaled, swallowed or when in contact with the skin. In closed areas, ventilate carefully using mechanical means if necessary. Do not pour residues in drains. Do not accelerate drying of ANTIROCK PRIMER by heating with a torch. It must be thoroughly dry before applying the waterproofing membrane and drying time must allow complete evaporation of solvents. Classified in the SDS as a Flammable Liquid Category 2, Poisons Schedule S5, suspected of causing cancer and of damaging the unborn child.

Frequently asked questions
-
How is Antirock Primer applied?
ApplicationBrush, roller or spray onto a clean, dry, dust-free substrate. Shake well before use. Allow to dry fully before applying torch-on membrane — never accelerate drying with a torch.
-
Which substrates does it suit?
CompatibilityDesigned for concrete and metal substrates being prepared for Soprema bituminous torch-on membranes. Not for self-adhesive membranes — use Elastocol Stick for those.
-
What is the coverage rate?
Coverage & Coats0.15 to 0.25 L/m² depending on substrate porosity. One 19 L pail covers approximately 76-126 m².
-
How long before I can torch over it?
Cure & Dry TimeDrying time varies with temperature and humidity. Wait until completely dry to touch with no solvent smell — typically 30 minutes to several hours.
-
What are the safety requirements?
StorageHighly flammable (Class 3, UN 1263). Store away from direct sunlight and open flame. Keep all ignition sources away during application and drying.
-
Why use a primer at all?
PerformanceImproves bond strength of the torch-on membrane to the substrate, particularly on dusty or porous concrete. Skipping the primer is the most common cause of delamination.
Why trade professionals choose Soprema
Soprema is a French waterproofing manufacturer whose torch applied and liquid applied systems are supplied to the Australian trade. The range stocked here covers Soprasun Plus sheet membranes for roof and balcony work, Colphene 3000 for below ground and retaining wall work, Alsan Flashing liquid detailers for junctions and penetrations, and the Elastocol Stick and AntiRock primers that go underneath them. It is a system led range, so most jobs pull a primer, a membrane and a detailing product from the same brand.
