When can backfill occur?

Once the membrane is fully adhered and a protection or drainage board is installed, backfilling can proceed immediately. Always protect before backfill.

How to Use

Peel off the silicone release film, adhere to the primed substrate, then apply pressure over the whole surface with a membrane rollerConfirm all surfaces are smooth, dry and free of ice, snow or any other substance that may prevent the membrane from adhering properly
Accept the substrate before starting - commencement of installation is taken as acceptance of the substrate by the applicator
Apply ELASTOCOL STICK PRIMER or ALSAN EP 100 H2O to the prepared substrate
Peel off the silicone release film and adhere the membrane to the support
Lap side joints a minimum of 75 mm and end joints a minimum of 150 mm
Apply pressure over the whole surface with a membrane roller to ensure good contact
Seal details and critical areas with SOPRAMASTIC or SOPRAMASTIC ALU and ALSAN FLASHING or ALSAN FLASHING JARDIN
Protect the membrane with SOPRABOARD protection board or SOPRADRAIN drainage boards prior to backfilling

Technical overview

COLPHENE 3000 is a self-adhering sheet membrane manufactured from a select blend of elastomeric SBS modified bitumen. The surface is a high-density cross-laminated HDPE carrier film and the underface is covered with a release protection film. It is designed for buried foundation walls and other below grade surfaces, in single-ply or two-ply assemblies, on masonry, concrete and wood. Performance is published against ASTM test methods only. The technical data sheet claims no AS/NZS 4858 or AS 4654.1 classification. Soprema states that the COLPHENE self-adhesive membranes are BBA certified and BRANZ appraised, and the sheet carries CERTIFICATE 21/5915 and Appraisal No.1037 [2018].

Prior to backfilling, protect the membrane with SOPRABOARD protection board or SOPRADRAIN drainage boards. Rolls must be stored upright, and covered with an opaque protection cover if stored outdoors.
