Technical overview
Key applications
- Roof flashings and details where it is difficult to apply waterproofing membranes
- General roofing
- Plaza decks and terraces
- Balconies
- Foundations
- Transitions, changes in plan and junctions between two supports, reinforced with POLYFLEECE
- Quick, cost effective repairs
Surface suitability
- Concrete (fully cured 28 days, minimum hardness 24 MPa, prepared to ICRI CSP 3 or 4, no primer)
- Traditional granulated and sanded bituminous waterproofing membranes (no primer)
- Wood (no primer)
- Metal and prepaint metal (cleaned with a non-greasy solvent such as acetone or MEK, smooth, clean and free of oxydized bitumen)
- Polyurethane membrane TRAFIK HP (no primer)
- PVC pipe, vertical partition wall only (sanded with sandpaper)
- Membranes with HDPE surface (primed with ELASTOCOL STICK)
Concrete must be fully cured (28 days) with a minimum hardness of 24 MPa (3500 psi) and prepared to a concrete surface profile of ICRI CSP 3 or 4. Membranes with an HDPE surface must be primed with ELASTOCOL STICK. PVC pipe is suitable on vertical partition walls only and must be sanded. All metal surfaces must be cleaned with a non-greasy solvent such as acetone or Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK) and be free of oxydized bitumen. Do not use if rain or snow is predicted within 12 hours after the installation. For proper curing, minimum application temperature is 5C. Service temperature: -30 to 150C. The SDS classifies the product as a Flammable Liquid Category 2 with a flash point of 10.5C, a skin and respiratory sensitiser, and suspected of causing cancer.

Frequently asked questions
-
How is Alsan Flashing applied?
ApplicationBrush, trowel or roller in 2 layers minimum (3 with Polyfleece reinforcement). Each layer requires minimum 0.8mm wet film thickness.
-
Where can I use it without a primer?
CompatibilityOn traditional granulated/sanded bituminous membranes, wood, metal, pre-painted metal, concrete, polyurethane (Trafik HP) and PVC pipe. HDPE surfaces need Elastocol Stick primer first.
-
What is the coverage?
Coverage & Coats19 L pail covers 23 m² at 0.8 mm wet film (0.6 mm dry film). 3.78 L pail covers 4.6 m².
-
How long between coats and to full cure?
Cure & Dry TimeRecoat after 2 hours. Tacky-touch dry at 12 hours. Fully cured in 3 days. Do not apply if rain is forecast within 12 hours.
-
What is the shelf life?
Storage12 months in original packaging in a dry, protected environment. Application range +5°C; service temperature -30 to +150°C.
-
Is it durable enough for exposed applications?
PerformanceYes — UV resistant and passes Appendix A4 AS 4654 testing for heat ageing, cyclic movement and UV durability. Top coat with roofing granules for aesthetic finish.
Why trade professionals choose Soprema
Soprema is a French waterproofing manufacturer whose torch applied and liquid applied systems are supplied to the Australian trade. The range stocked here covers Soprasun Plus sheet membranes for roof and balcony work, Colphene 3000 for below ground and retaining wall work, Alsan Flashing liquid detailers for junctions and penetrations, and the Elastocol Stick and AntiRock primers that go underneath them. It is a system led range, so most jobs pull a primer, a membrane and a detailing product from the same brand.
