Fabric on both faces. Glue it down, hot-air weld the laps, tile on it 1 hour later.
ACTFLEX 1300R is a 1.3 mm butyl rubber sheet membrane with white nonwoven fabric top and bottom. The bottom fabric bonds down with ACTFLEX 301 ADHESIVE. The top fabric takes tile adhesive, screed or a FORSPEC liquid membrane with no primer.
Where to use it
Why waterproofers buy it
Coverage
Allow at least 10% over the effective area on a simple rectangular floor, more on cut-up wet areas.
ACTFLEX 301 ADHESIVE goes on both the substrate and the sheet: approx. 0.29-0.50 L per m² for one coat, 0.57-1.00 L per m² for two coats.
Not for
A wearing surface, loose laying or mechanical fixing, damp substrates, or below 5°C or above 35°C. PVC, negative-side, heavily jointed or moving substrates need Forspec sign-off first. Potable water needs written Forspec confirmation.
All times at 25°C and 50% RH.

Correct application makes all the difference.
Adhesive applied only - not mechanically fastened and not loose laid; ACTFLEX 301 ADHESIVE must bond the sheet to the substrate across its whole area. Weld the laps only. Never weld the sheet to the substrate, and never apply adhesive into a lap that will be welded; welded joints need clean, adhesive-free mating faces. Where ACTFLEX EP250 is used it must be fully cured before ACTFLEX 301 ADHESIVE is applied, or the adhesive solvents will attack the uncured epoxy film; this is not recoverable and the primer must be removed and reinstated. Substrates must be dry at the time of adhesive application - a contact adhesive will not develop bond to a damp surface. Remove all sharp protrusions, aggregate and debris that could puncture the membrane once bonded. Newly poured concrete must be cured a minimum of 7 days before installation. PVC panels, negative-side conditions and heavily jointed or moving substrates need confirmation from a FORSPEC representative before proceeding. Verification testing to AS/NZS 4858 and AS 4654.1 is in progress; where a project specification requires a certified classification to be cited, confirm the current status with FORSPEC Technical Services. Not a wearing surface - always cover with tiles, screed, decking, pavers or an approved finish. UV stability supports open-air exposure during construction only and is not a substitute for the specified finish. Do not stretch the sheet during installation; a stretched sheet will recover and lift at laps and terminations. An unwelded, cold or contaminated lap is a defect, so every seam must be probe-tested. Do not apply below 5°C or above 35°C ambient. The adhesive is solvent based - provide ventilation and control ignition sources per the ACTFLEX 301 ADHESIVE SDS. No AS/NZS 4020 certification is held; potable-water contact requires written confirmation from FORSPEC Technical Services. Never place fill, growing medium or loose coverings directly on the membrane, and never place or drag pedestal bases directly on the unprotected membrane. Do not use solvent cleaners or abrasive pads on the fabric face.

Yes. The upper nonwoven fabric face is a mechanical key and takes tile adhesive directly, with no primer, no abrasion and no separating layer. Fix tiles with ACTFLEX BIOSET or a compatible cement-based tile adhesive from 1 hour after installation, to AS 3958:2023, and check adhesive coverage with periodic lift checks.
No. The sheet is bonded with ACTFLEX 301 ADHESIVE and the laps are hot-air welded, with no open flame at any stage. You need an automatic hot-air welder for production seams, a hand welder and silicone roller for detail work, and a seam probe to test every seam.
The adhesive goes on both the substrate and the membrane underside, so each square metre of membrane is two square metres of coated area per coat. Plan on approx. 0.29-0.50 L per m² for a single coat, or approx. 0.57-1.00 L per m² for the two-coat maximum-adhesion method. Confirm actual consumption on a trial area before ordering.
It is designed and manufactured to comply with AS/NZS 4858 and AS 4654.1-2012, with verification testing in progress. The listed performance values are Forspec R&D guide values, not accredited laboratory test results. If your project specification needs a certified classification cited, confirm the current status with FORSPEC Technical Services.
