The product has been uniquely formulated with synthetic microfibres to increase its strength and eliminate the need for a separate reinforcement mat. ARDEX WPM 002 is based on the most advanced acrylic polymer technology, and is totally resistant to re-emulsification.

ARDEX WPM 002 is flexible, low in odour, and is fully compatible with polymer modified tile adhesives. ARDEX WPM 002 is one of the fastest drying acrylic membranes on the market – normally ready to tile in 16–24 hours @ 23°C. ARDEX WPM 002 meets the Green Building Council of Australia Green Star IEQ-13 requirements for Architectural Sealant when tested in accordance with SCAQMD Method 304-91 Determination of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) in Various Materials as referenced by South Coast Air Quality Management Division (SCAQMD) Rule 1168.

How to Use

Apply by brush or roller in a minimum two coat application at 0.9mm WFT per coat on floors and 0.6mm WFT per coat on walls, second coat at 90 degrees to the firstRemove all dirt, dust, curing compounds, oils, grease, surface sealers, existing coatings and other contaminants by mechanical methods and vacuum cleaning
Prepare the surface sound, clean, dry and free from sharp edges, loose or other materials which may damage the membrane
Treat damaged concrete between 2mm and 30mm with ARDEX A 46, and spalling concrete with the ARDEX Concrete Repair range such as ARDEX BR 345
Prepare cracks and joints, and pre-treat them with ARDEX STB/STA Tape or an ARDEX sealant, allowing them to fully cure
Prime the prepared substrate with ARDEX WPM 300, ARDEX WPM 265, ARDEX WPM 368 or ARDEX Multiprime and allow the primer to fully dry
Where masonry or concrete moisture exceeds 80% relative humidity to ASTM F2170 or 15g/m2/24hrs to ASTM F1869, prime with a minimum two coats of ARDEX WPM 300 HydrEpoxy
Detail drains, penetrations, floor and wall junctions, wall to wall junctions, joints and changes of substrate with ARDEX STB/STA Tape, ARDEX silicone with ARDEX Deckweb, or an ARDEX sealant
Overlap ARDEX STB/STA Tape end to end by a minimum of 50mm and roller it down with the ARDEX Brass Roller and Small Hand Roller
Mix Part A liquid separately to a uniform consistency, then add Part B powder in a 1:1 to 1:1.5 ratio by weight and mix to a smooth lump free consistency; never mix by hand
Allow the mixed material to stand 3 to 4 minutes, then lightly re-mix for 1 minute before application; pot life is approximately 1 hour at 23C, 50% RH
Apply the first coat by brush or roller at 0.9mm WFT on floors or 0.6mm WFT on walls
Recoat after 1 to 2 hours at 23C, 50% RH, applying the second coat at 90 degrees to the previous coat
Build a total dry film thickness of 1.2mm on floors and 0.8mm on walls
Allow 16 to 24 hours for the membrane to be totally dry, longer over tape, sealant and silicone details
Inspect the membrane for damage, imperfections or pinholes and apply an additional coat where required
Flood test from 48 hours after the final coat
Tile or screed from 24 hours after the final coat, and do not leave the membrane exposed longer than 5 days
Allow 72 hours full cure before immersed areas such as showers and pools are used
Clean all equipment with water and detergent before the product dries

Technical overview

ARDEX WPM 002 is a two component, fast drying, modified cementitious waterproofing membrane for internal and external use, designed to be applied under tiles, screed and paver or decking systems. It is mixed 1:1 to 1:1.5 by weight, applied by brush or roller in a minimum two coat application at 1.2mm total dry film thickness on floors and 0.8mm on walls, and can be tiled or screeded 24 hours after the final coat. It has been evaluated by XTec Gen Laboratories, accredited for compliance with ISO/IEC 17025, as Class III under both AS/NZS 4858:2004 (Report 304-2) and AS 4654.1-2012 (Report 304-6). Abrasion testing under AS 4654.1 meets the requirement for pedestrian traffic only.

Do not apply if ambient or substrate temperature is below 10C or above 35C. Do not add solvent or water to the product. Do not apply if rain is imminent. Must not be left exposed for longer than 5 days before recoating, tiling, screed or paver and decking system applications, and may need cleaning with mild detergent and water and full drying before overcoating. Not designed as a stand alone UV exposed or permanently trafficable membrane. Immersed areas such as showers and pools must not be used until full cure at 72 hours. Never mix by hand. The Part B powder is a hazardous chemical: it causes skin irritation and serious eye damage, may cause an allergic skin reaction, may cause respiratory irritation, may cause cancer and causes damage to organs through prolonged and repeated exposure, so wear gloves, protective clothing, eye and face protection.
