Technical overview
Key applications
- Podiums
- Terraces
- Balconies
- Swimming pools and spas (tiled)
- Wet areas (bathroom and shower)
- Under paver / decking systems
- Under tiles and screed
Surface suitability
- Concrete (prepared sound, clean, dry and free from sharp edges, loose or other materials which may damage the membrane, and primed)
- Masonry (primed; a minimum two coats of ARDEX WPM 300 HydrEpoxy where substrate moisture content exceeds 80% relative humidity to ASTM F2170 or 15g/m2/24hrs to ASTM F1869)
- Damaged concrete between 2mm and 30mm treated with ARDEX A 46 before membrane installation
- Spalling concrete treated with the ARDEX Concrete Repair range such as ARDEX BR 345
Do not apply if ambient or substrate temperature is below 10C or above 35C. Do not add solvent or water to the product. Do not apply if rain is imminent. Must not be left exposed for longer than 5 days before recoating, tiling, screed or paver and decking system applications, and may need cleaning with mild detergent and water and full drying before overcoating. Not designed as a stand alone UV exposed or permanently trafficable membrane. Immersed areas such as showers and pools must not be used until full cure at 72 hours. Never mix by hand. The Part B powder is a hazardous chemical: it causes skin irritation and serious eye damage, may cause an allergic skin reaction, may cause respiratory irritation, may cause cancer and causes damage to organs through prolonged and repeated exposure, so wear gloves, protective clothing, eye and face protection.

Frequently asked questions
-
What substrates is WPM 002 suitable for?
CompatibilityWPM 002 bonds to concrete, render, fibre-cement sheet, plasterboard, masonry, and primed metal. Substrates should be sound, clean, and primed with the appropriate ARDEX primer (Multiprime or P51) before application.
-
Can I tile directly over WPM 002?
CompatibilityYes. WPM 002 is fully compatible with ARDEX tile adhesives across the cementitious range. Allow the membrane to cure for at least 24 hours before tiling.
-
Is WPM 002 suitable for showers and wet areas?
PerformanceYes. WPM 002 is a Class III waterproofing membrane compliant with AS4858 and AS4654, making it suitable for internal wet areas including showers, bathrooms, laundries, and balconies under tiles.
-
How many coats are required?
InstallationTwo coats minimum, applied at 90 degrees to each other to ensure full coverage. Total dry film thickness should be at least 0.6mm. Reinforce internal corners and penetrations with ARDEX reinforcing fabric.
-
Is WPM 002 Australian standard compliant?
ComplianceYes. WPM 002 is independently tested and certified to AS4858 (wet area membranes) and AS4654 (external above-ground membranes), with low VOC and solvent-free formulation.
