Where do I use the internal corner?

At every 90° internal junction where two walls meet the floor – typically the four corners of a shower or bathroom.

Lay Elastoproof B50 band into wet 1st coat membrane along the junctions. While wet, bed the internal corner over the intersection so the returns overlap the B50 band. Overcoat with 2nd coat of membrane.

What size is the corner?

200mm × 200mm with 120mm wall and floor returns, sized to overlap a 120mm B50 bond breaker band.

How to Use

Apply a liberal coat of Gripset membrane, embed the corner into the wet membrane bed and push out all creases and air pockets with a flat spatula or brushTest adhesion of the products to be used over a typical area of the prepared surface and accept the substrate before any application starts
Confirm the surface temperature is not below 5C and not above 30C
Apply a liberal coat of the Gripset membrane to the surface
Ensure enough membrane is applied to cover 100% of the rear corner profile
Embed the corner profile into the wet membrane bed before the membrane skins or dries
Wet the fabric edges of the corner fully into the membrane film
Push out all creases and air pockets behind the fabric edges using a flat spatula or brush
Remove any excess membrane on the top surface of the corner by brushing over the face of the corner or onto the surface
Overlap and adhere lengths of Elastoproof Jointing Band a minimum of 40mm onto the corner section using the selected Gripset membrane

Technical overview

Gripset Elastoproof Prefabricated Corner Sections are moulded corner pieces used to detail Elastoproof Jointing Band applications at critical corner intersections. The internal corner is 200mm x 200mm with 120mm wall/floor returns, moulded in cured NBR rubber with fabric edges that are wetted into the membrane film. It is bedded into a wet coat of Gripset membrane and maintains the flexible zone through the intersection, giving a seamless and elastic seal with 100% elastic recovery, and it is waterproof and a vapour barrier. It is compatible with all Gripset membranes. The Gripset data sheet cites no Australian Standard and no accredited test certificate for the prefabricated corner sections; system compliance is carried by the Gripset membrane the corner is embedded in.

Not compatible with solvent based materials, e.g. adhesives, sealants or coatings. Do not apply when surface temperature is below 5C or above 30C. The corner must be bedded into a wet film of the membrane; do not allow the membrane to skin or dry before bedding the corner in position. If not enough wet membrane is applied behind the corner, proper adhesion will not be achieved. Adhesion of the products to be used should be tested over a typical area of the prepared surface before the application starts.
