How to Use

Apply neat by brush, roller or airless spray at up to 1 litre/8m2 under Gripset membranes; do not diluteConfirm all substrates are structurally sound, smooth, stable, dry and clean
Even or fill rough surfaces and voids first and point all brick and block surfaces flush
Repair all general surface defects
Remove sharp protruding objects, loose material, de-bonded coatings, curing membranes and agents, release agents, wax residues, foreign particles, laitance, algae and moss, grime, oils, animal fats and grease remains
Mechanically remove structurally unsound layers and surface contaminants by abrasive blasting, blast tracking, grinding or equivalent methods
Check porosity of the surface with a water droplet test; if droplets do not absorb the surface is non porous and a different Gripset primer is required
Test adhesion of the products to be used over a typical area of the prepared surface and accept the substrate before any application starts
For Gripset membranes, apply Gripset GP neat and do not dilute
For tile adhesive, screed or render priming over porous surfaces, dilute 1 part Gripset GP to 2 parts water to assist penetration of the substrate

Technical overview

Gripset GP is a water based multipurpose 2 in 1 primer and bonding agent. As a primer it enhances surface adhesion of Gripset membranes and tile adhesives over porous surfaces, applied neat at up to 1 litre/8m2 with membrane application carried out after 20-30 minutes. As a bonding agent it improves the bonding strength of cement based compounds and the water resistant properties of screeds, renders, mortars and cement based slurries, grouts and cement based adhesives, and as an additive it is suitable in areas exposed to water, harsh climatic conditions and fully immersed areas. The Gripset data sheet cites no Australian Standard and no accredited test certificate for this product; the only test method quoted is ISO 13741-1 for VOC content. System compliance is carried by the Gripset membrane applied over it.
