How to Use

Fully heat weld using a propane torch or MINI MACADEN, unrolling perpendicular to the roof slope from the low point with end-laps staggered 1 m apartConfirm all surfaces are smooth, dry and free of ice, snow or any other substance that may prevent the membrane from adhering properly
Confirm the substrate has a minimum 1% gradient so that water drains to drainage outlets
Confirm concrete substrate is fully cured before application of the membrane
Confirm concrete has a Concrete Surface Profile (CSP) between 3 and 6 as per International Concrete Repair Institute
Do not install heat welded membranes directly onto combustible substrate
Run an adhesion test prior to installation of the membrane
Prime concrete or metal surfaces with ANTIROCK PRIMER at the rate specified in its TDS; no primer is required when installed as top layer over a base sheet membrane
Unroll membrane sheets onto the roof surface
Starting at the low point of the roof, lay out the membrane so the plies are installed perpendicular to the roof slope, shingled to prevent back-water laps
Maintain the specified side-laps and end-laps, staggering end-laps 1 m apart
Apply heat to the underside of the ply until the thermofusible film melts sufficiently for full adhesion to the substrate and full adhesion between plies
With hand-held roof torches, move the torch side-to-side across the underside of the roll while continuously unrolling the sheet
Keep approximately 6 to 12 mm of hot bitumen flowing ahead of the roll and 3 to 6 mm bleed out at all laps
Ensure all side-laps are fully adhered and sealed watertight
At the 150 mm end-laps, melt the thermofusible film or embed granules and remove other membrane surfacing where present, using a torch or hot-air welder, to give a fully adhered watertight seal
Waterproof all penetrations and upturn details as per SOPREMA Installation Guides and detail drawings
Adjust application methods to accommodate varying environmental conditions as necessary

SOPRASUN PLUS 4.5KG MINERAL is an APP modified bitumen waterproofing membrane for roofing and below grade applications, reinforced with a non-woven polyester combined with fibreglass. Its top surface is coated with coloured slate chips and its selvedge edge is slate free on one side, so it is used as the top layer in single-ply or multi-layer assemblies, exposed and protected. It is fully heat welded using a propane torch or MINI MACADEN. The data sheet states compliance with AS 4654.1 and carries Appraisal No.1145 [2021]. Do not install heat welded membranes directly onto combustible substrate. No work should be started until all surfaces are smooth, dry, and free of ice, snow or any other substance that may prevent the membrane from adhering properly. The substrate must have a minimum 1% gradient to ensure that water drains to drainage outlets, and concrete must be fully cured with a Concrete Surface Profile (CSP) between 3 and 6 as per International Concrete Repair Institute. An adhesion test is recommended prior to installation, and commencement of installation shall be taken as acceptance of the substrate by the Applicator. Rolls must be stored upright with the selvedge side on top and, if stored outdoors, covered with an opaque protection cover after removal of the delivery packaging.
