Centre the tape over the joint in the wet membrane base coat and press it in with a steel trowel or spatula, working from the centre outwards, then overcoat to fully encapsulate it.Confirm substrates are clean, dry, structurally sound and free of laitance, dust, oil, grease, paint, sealers and curing compounds
Grind or lightly abrade dense, burnished or coated surfaces to expose sound substrate, then vacuum the area thoroughly
Make junction zones smooth and continuous for a minimum of 200 mm in every direction from the corner, including the wall upturn
Cut out and reinstate any weak, hollow or drummy render or screed
Reinstate defects, voids and blowholes with FORBUILD 100 or FORCRETE 100, finished flush and cured
Remove all loose fasteners, screws, nails and debris from wall and floor sheet surfaces
Confirm any required primer has been applied and is fully dry
Pre-fill cracks and static joints wider than 3 mm with ACTFLEX 75FC or ACTFLEX MS PRO and allow to cure
Apply a generous, continuous base coat of the specified FORSPEC membrane along the full length of the joint, wide enough for the full tape width plus margin on both sides
While the membrane is still wet, centre the tape over the junction so the elastomeric centre spans the joint and the felt faces lie flat on both planes
Press the tape into the wet membrane with a steel trowel or spatula, working from the centre outwards to expel air, wrinkles and dry zones
Overlap tape ends by a minimum of 50 mm, fully embedded in membrane at the lap
Cut internal corners at 45 degrees and lap or mitre neatly, keeping the centre of the tape continuous around the corner
Pre-form or cut external corners to the corner shape with continuous overlap, fully saturated on both planes
Join factory-preformed corner units to the running tape with a minimum 50 mm overlap and full embedment
Allow the base coat to partially set, then apply the second coat over the entire tape length, fully encapsulating the tape
Inspect for hollow zones, wrinkles, dry felt and lifted edges, and cut out and re-detail any defective length
Flood test after full cure of the membrane system, then tile or cover
