Product Details

ARDEX WPM 909 is a water-based acrylic trafficable membrane designed for pedestrian-access waterproofing applications requiring UV resistance, slip resistance, abrasion resistance and long-term weather protection.

How to Use

Stir before use, then apply two coats minimum by brush or roller to the primed substrate at 0.9mm minimum wet film thickness per coat to achieve a total dry film thickness of 1.0mm.Remove all dirt, dust, curing compounds, oils, grease, surface sealers, existing coatings and any other contaminants by mechanical methods and vacuum cleaning
Leave the surface sound, clean, dry and free from sharp edges, loose or other materials which may damage the membrane
Treat damaged concrete between 2mm and 30mm with ARDEX A 46, and spalling concrete with the ARDEX Concrete Repair range such as ARDEX BR 345
Allow new concrete to cure a minimum of 28 days, and new render or screed a minimum of 7 days, before application commences
Grind out cracks to 6mm wide x 6mm depth minimum and remove all loose debris and contaminants
Fit backer rod or self-adhesive bond breaker tape in joints and cracks to avoid three sided adhesion and control sealant depth
Extrude ARDEX RA 050 or ARDEX CA 20 P PLUS into the prepared joint, ensuring complete adhesion to the joint sides and avoiding air entrapment
Tool the sealant flush with the finished surface, or 2mm to 3mm below the finished surface within trafficable areas
Allow 1 to 2 hours minimum drying of ARDEX CA 20 P PLUS before coating; ARDEX RA 050 can be overcoated immediately after tooling
Prime the prepared substrate with ARDEX WPM 300, ARDEX WPM 368, ARDEX WPM 265 or ARDEX Multiprime
Where substrate moisture is greater than 80% relative humidity or exceeds 15g/m2/24hrs, prime with a minimum two coats of ARDEX WPM 300
Detail all prepared joints, cracks, internal and external junctions and drainage outlets, and seal around penetrations, with ARDEX RA 050, ARDEX CA 20 P PLUS or ARDEX STB/STA Tape
Stir the product before use
Apply two coats minimum by brush and or roller at 0.9mm minimum wet film thickness per coat for a total 1.0mm dry film thickness
Allow 2 to 4 hours recoat time between coats at 23C/50% R.H.
Apply a total of three coats in areas expecting higher pedestrian traffic such as entry and exit points and servicing equipment

Place DTA BOSS pedestal rubber matting under each tiling pedestal set on the cured membrane
Clean all equipment with water and detergent prior to the product drying

Technical overview

ARDEX WPM 909 is a water-based single component acrylic membrane designed for pedestrian trafficable environments such as rooftops, podiums and walkways. It is stirred, then applied in two coats minimum by brush or roller over a primed substrate at 0.9mm minimum wet film thickness per coat, for a total 1.0mm dry film thickness. The TDS states it is compliant to AS4654, and that is backed by an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited XTec Gen test report (215-4 AS4654.1-2012) returning Class II elongation at break of 164%, plus a NATA accredited Safe Environments slip report (R29586) giving P5 wet pendulum. Colour, form, solids, hardness, specific gravity, service temperature and VOC are ARDEX nominal values with no test report quoted.

Designed for light to medium pedestrian traffic only. Not suited for vehicle or heavy equipment type traffic. Do not apply if ambient or substrate temperature is below 10C or above 35C. Do not add solvent or water to the product. Do not apply if rain is imminent. New concrete must be cured a minimum of 28 days and new render or screed a minimum of 7 days before application commences. Where masonry or concrete substrate moisture content is greater than 80% relative humidity (ASTM F2170) or exceeds 15g/m2/24hrs (ASTM F1869), a minimum two coats of ARDEX WPM 300 (HydrEpoxy) must be the nominated primer. This is a hazardous chemical: it may cause cancer, is suspected of causing genetic defects, may cause an allergic skin reaction and causes serious eye irritation. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing, eye protection and face protection, and ensure adequate ventilation.
