Technical overview

ARDEX WPM 909 is a water-based single component acrylic membrane designed for pedestrian trafficable environments such as rooftops, podiums and walkways. It is stirred, then applied in two coats minimum by brush or roller over a primed substrate at 0.9mm minimum wet film thickness per coat, for a total 1.0mm dry film thickness. The TDS states it is compliant to AS4654, and that is backed by an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited XTec Gen test report (215-4 AS4654.1-2012) returning Class II elongation at break of 164%, plus a NATA accredited Safe Environments slip report (R29586) giving P5 wet pendulum. Colour, form, solids, hardness, specific gravity, service temperature and VOC are ARDEX nominal values with no test report quoted.

Key applications

  • Rooftops
  • Podiums
  • Walkways
  • Pedestrian trafficable environments
  • Exposed environments requiring UV resistance
  • Areas requiring anti-slip performance and abrasion resistance
  • Under DTA BOSS tiling pedestals (paver pads) on the cured membrane

Surface suitability

  • Concrete (new concrete cured a minimum of 28 days, prepared and primed)
  • Render (new render cured a minimum of 7 days, prepared and primed)
  • Screed (new screed cured a minimum of 7 days, prepared and primed)
  • Masonry (primed with a minimum two coats of ARDEX WPM 300 where moisture content exceeds 80% relative humidity)

Designed for light to medium pedestrian traffic only. Not suited for vehicle or heavy equipment type traffic. Do not apply if ambient or substrate temperature is below 10C or above 35C. Do not add solvent or water to the product. Do not apply if rain is imminent. New concrete must be cured a minimum of 28 days and new render or screed a minimum of 7 days before application commences. Where masonry or concrete substrate moisture content is greater than 80% relative humidity (ASTM F2170) or exceeds 15g/m2/24hrs (ASTM F1869), a minimum two coats of ARDEX WPM 300 (HydrEpoxy) must be the nominated primer. This is a hazardous chemical: it may cause cancer, is suspected of causing genetic defects, may cause an allergic skin reaction and causes serious eye irritation. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing, eye protection and face protection, and ensure adequate ventilation.

Frequently asked questions

View all FAQs
  • Is this product UV-stable above water?
    Performance

Designed for underwater use only — direct sunlight exposure may cause fading, peeling or chalking. Apply Omega Omethane 343 topcoat if exposed sections are a concern.

  • How do I use Litonet Gel Evo?
    Application

Apply neat with a brush or pad to dry residue. Allow 20-30 minutes contact time (do not let dry fully). Agitate with stiff brush and rinse with clean water.

  • Which surfaces is it safe on?
    Compatibility

Most glazed ceramic, porcelain, glass mosaic and tough natural stone. Always spot-test on porous stones, marble, or polished surfaces before full use.

  • Will it remove cured epoxy grout?
    Performance

Most effective on epoxy grout residue removed within 48 hours of grouting. Heavily cured residue may require mechanical assistance or specialist removers.
