Technical overview

Drizoro Mesh is a range of alkali-resistant fibreglass meshes for reinforcing waterproof coatings, plaster mortars on facades and repair mortars on structures, to prevent cracking under stress and give the system greater resistance. It is laid into the fresh first layer of the coating or mortar and pressed through until fully embedded, never placed straight onto the substrate. The Technical Bulletin covers grades 58, 130 and 140 and publishes weight, thickness and tensile strength for roll widths of 1 m and 0,30 m only. It does not list a 200mm x 50m roll, so no grade-specific figures are quoted here. No accredited test certificate is published for this product.

Key applications

  • Reinforcing waterproof coatings
  • Reinforcing plaster mortars on facades
  • Reinforcing repair mortars on structures
  • Overlapping, reinforcement and bridging of cracks, corners and corner fillets
  • Construction joints and penetration pipes
  • Critical points between different types of substrates
  • Waterproof coatings exposed to thermal movements by weather conditions
  • Coatings applied over smooth surfaces and non-porous substrates

Do not place the mesh directly on the substrate without any previous coating or mortar. Surface damages and defects deeper than 5mm, such as cavities, chips, cracks and holes, must first be opened to a minimum depth of 2 cm and repaired with a structural repair mortar such as MAXREST. Remove any irregularities that protrude from the substrate and could lead to air traps under the coating. Joints between walls and slabs or pillars and slabs must be opened to a hole of approximately 30 x 30 mm and repaired with MAXREST, or MAXPLUG if water is present, and finished with a concave corner profile. Corners and edges must be rounded to a radius greater than 30 mm. Make sure the mesh is completely embedded by the coating or mortar, and observe the open time of the material being reinforced before applying the second layer. Store in the original unopened packaging in a vertical position, dry and covered, between 5C and 40C and away from heat and direct sunlight.

Frequently asked questions

View all FAQs
  • Where is Max Mesh used?
    Compatibility

Max Mesh is an alkali-resistant woven fibreglass reinforcement mesh embedded into Drizoro liquid cementitious membranes (Maxseal Flex, Flex-M, Super) at cold joints, wall/slab junctions, corners, penetrations, and areas of substrate movement.

  • How does it strengthen the membrane?
    Performance

The mesh acts as a tensile reinforcement layer within the membrane, distributing stress across cracks and movement zones. Without mesh, a thin liquid membrane can tear at the crack apex; with mesh, the stress is spread.

  • How is it embedded?
    Installation

Apply the first wet coat of cementitious membrane, lay the mesh into the wet coat along the joint/crack/junction, press out air with a pressure roller, then apply the second membrane coat over the mesh once the first has set.

  • Compatible with which Drizoro membranes?
    Compatibility

Embeds into all Drizoro cementitious membranes (Maxseal Flex, Flex-M, Super, Traffic) and is also used at corner detailing under Maxsheen Elastic and Maxflex top coats.

  • CE marked?
    Compliance

Yes. Max Mesh is CE marked. Refer to the linked TDS for the full DRIZORO MESH range specification (covers 58, 130, and 140 g/m² weights).

Why trade professionals choose Drizoro

Drizoro is a Spanish manufacturer of cement based waterproofing and concrete repair products, supplied to the Australian trade through The Waterproofing Shop. The range on this site covers Maxseal Foundation and Maxseal Flex, along with repair mortars, grouts, joint products and mesh, used on concrete and masonry where water has to be held back rather than simply shed. Choosing between the rigid and the flexible grade is the key decision, and it comes down to the substrate, the direction of the water and how much movement the structure is likely to see.
