Drizoro is a Spanish manufacturer of cement based waterproofing and concrete repair products, supplied to the Australian trade through The Waterproofing Shop. The range on this site covers Maxseal Foundation and Maxseal Flex, along with repair mortars, grouts, joint products and mesh, used on concrete and masonry where water has to be held back rather than simply shed. Choosing between the rigid and the flexible grade is the key decision, and it comes down to the substrate, the direction of the water and how much movement the structure is likely to see.

Drizoro waterproofing FAQs

Common questions about Drizoro cementitious waterproofing and concrete repair products.

Still have questions?

Talk to our team about which Maxseal grade suits your structure.

How do you apply Drizoro Maxseal coatings?

Maxseal coatings are applied to a clean, sound substrate with laitance, dust, curing compounds, form oil and loose material removed first, and the surface pre-dampened to a saturated but surface dry condition. It is normally worked well into the substrate with a suitable brush, or spray applied, with successive coats laid at right angles to each other so the build is even and there are no thin spots. Because it is a cement based product it needs damp curing after application rather than being left to dry out quickly in sun or wind. The coat count and the application detail for your particular substrate are set out in the product's technical data sheet.

What is Drizoro Maxseal Flex?

Maxseal Flex is the flexible grade in the Drizoro cementitious waterproofing range. Where the rigid grade, Maxseal Foundation, cures hard, Maxseal Flex cures to a coating with elasticity, so it is the one specified where the structure may see minor movement or fine cracking rather than staying completely static. It is mixed on site from a powder and a liquid polymer component and applied over prepared concrete and masonry. If you are unsure which grade suits your structure, the deciding factors are movement, exposure and whether the water is bearing on the coated face or the opposite face.

How long does Maxseal Flex take to dry?

There is no single drying time that applies to every job, because temperature, humidity, air movement, substrate porosity and how heavily the coating is applied all change it. As a cement based material it is curing rather than simply drying, so cool or damp conditions extend it while warm, dry, windy conditions can skin the surface faster than the coating underneath is ready. Work to the drying, recoat and return to service times published by the manufacturer for the grade you are using, and allow for the conditions on site that day rather than assuming a nominal figure.

How do you mix Drizoro Maxseal Flex?

Maxseal Flex is mixed mechanically rather than by hand, using a slow speed drill and a suitable mixing paddle. Add the powder to the liquid component gradually and mix until the material is uniform and free of lumps, then let it stand briefly and remix before you start applying. Only mix what can be used within the material's working life, and never add extra water or re-temper it once it begins to stiffen, because that weakens the cured coating. The mixing ratio and working time for your pack are given in the manufacturer's instructions.

Can you render over Drizoro?

Overlay compatibility is product specific, so whether render, screed, tile adhesive or a further coating can go over a Drizoro product must be confirmed for the exact product and the exact build up you are putting together. Rigid and flexible cementitious coatings behave differently under a bonded topping, and surface texture, contamination and cure state all affect adhesion. Check the manufacturer's documentation for the product in question before you commit, and get it confirmed in writing where the overlay is structural, tiled or otherwise hard to rectify later. If you are not certain, ask us and we will help you check before the coating goes down.

Does Drizoro meet Australian waterproofing standards?

We do not make compliance claims against a standard for individual products in this range, because certification is held product by product and application by application. As general context, waterproofing of domestic wet areas in Australia is governed by AS 3740, external above ground membranes fall under AS 4654, and membranes used in wet areas are subject to WaterMark certification under the National Construction Code. If your job falls under any of those, check the certification held by the specific product for that specific application and rely on the certification documentation rather than a product description or a supplier's summary.

Where can I buy Drizoro in Australia?

The Waterproofing Shop supplies the Drizoro range in Australia, including Maxseal Foundation and Maxseal Flex, so you can pick the rigid or the flexible cementitious coating on its merits instead of forcing one product to cover both situations. That distinction matters on the work these coatings are used for, such as water retaining structures, tanks, basements, lift pits and retaining walls, where movement and the direction of water pressure decide which grade is appropriate. Order online, or contact us first if you want to work through which face of the structure should be coated and which grade suits the substrate before you buy.
